Re: Computer Cores Processing Power and Jump Control Software

Probably one of those issues that tends to get spread under the rug. There is considerable difference between jump control one and six programmes, and technological level(s) availability might have been a natural cap on core computers' potential processing power; it may be that I had been lulled by ...

Re: DARPA Hypersonic defenses

Putin's problem is financing weapon research and development; you can't skim off the top of a falling gross national product, and still pay for expensive arms projects (you could, if you sacrifice your cut, social welfare, and infrastructure). I think the rumour is they tried to put a nuclear warhea...

Re: Solomani Confederation (Military)

Confederation Navy: Battlestar Galactica Deadlock Accumulated six elite Herculii, forgot to include a Manticore and a Celestra, though I suspect both would have gotten missiled to extinction. A battle for eighty six hundred worth of Toaster hulls popped up, and i thought it was an opportunity to se...

Re: New Russian 'light' carrier

If you're going to tweak with the jump shadow, you could make it fifty diameters per parsec jumped; makes the ten percent reduction on diamter for advanced jump drives a lot more attractive, and the fifty percent increase possibly fatal.

I don't doubt that.

Though I suspect it also has to do with any undue stress applied, like acceleration, though I couldn't tell you at what point the clamps would just rip off, if not crack.

1. When piracy changes from nuisance to threat, that's usually when you have organized naval expeditions to root them out. 2. Or you're looking for live fire practice, like the Royal Navy. 3. The piracy threat can increase to the point that it can challenge militarily the local regime, at which poin...

Spaceships: Hulls and Options 77. Launch tubes can send out spacecraft every thirty six seconds, while it takes docking spaces one to three minutes for hulls less than two kilotonnes, and one to six minutes for anything larger, though apparently during this time the hosting vessel can neither thrus...

Confederation Navy: Battlestar Galactica Deadlock Now, it could be because the ships have started gaining more experience, combined with a rank tier ten commander, but the three Herculii heavy cruisers have managed to keep the Toasters at bay, once you set up the flak wall, making it nigh missile p...

Re: Creating a Breakaway Hull

Most captains probably want visitors to be docked at designated spots on their hull, and not be like barnacles, which is why they are the clampor.

Having multiple clamps means more care in lining up the two hulls; release should be almost instantaneous.

Re: How to let players generate the characters they want without letting them min/max?

Role playing games allow great latitude to interpret RAW, to the point of mutating them mid session.

Wargaming tends to a stricter adherence, and keeping them as universal as possible, and because of time pressure, disputes can be resolved by chance.

Good luck to them, building a class of warship traditionally launched by current Ukrainian shipyards, on a hull configuration they aren't familiar with. Since the cold war is turning hot in the Arctic, and the American like supercarriers, they can finally get around to building the Habakkuk. You cou...

They're meant to be towed into combat by older warships; one passage that has tended to stand out for me was that the Peeps heavy cruisers had extra capacity in their sublight manoeuvre drives that they could use to do that without substantially impacting performance. As regards stuff like high yiel...
