Stance on Fan-Made Supplements

What is Mongoose's stance on fan-made supplements for VatS 1.0 now that VaS 2.0 is coming out? I've been working on my submarine rules and trying to get them into a coherent form and get the campaign worked into something that people who aren't me can understand. So, is it kosher to produce a...

Re: Do any VAS books ever get proofread!?

A helpful review- on both the good and bad points of the book. 8) This goes a long way to actually helping me decide whether I want to purchase this now or wait till the newer, corrected version comes out. I'm on the path towards the latter now. The editing mistakes, in the wake of Age of Dreadnough...

Re: New Supplement - Far Flung Seas

well we can always look for ways to make it better if a mistake is found. Ohhh (Errata) Do remember PDFs can be updated then you can redownload it with the corrections at least I assume Mongoose does this other people do. I bought 'em in dead tree format; I like to have something to hold on to, scr...

Re: Has anyone played this

The biggest thing is I have to remeber to use the VAS 1.0 formulas because they change in version 2.0. I think its much more accurate. THEY CHANGE THE FORMULAS? http://www.nooooooooooooooo.com/vader.jpg http://www.nooooooooooooooo.com/ You mean I have to figure all this stuff out ag...

Re: Has anyone played this

I'm really enjoying a solo 'Silent Service' campaign; I converted the USN's S -class and Porpoise -class submarines into the game and am now playing an early-WWII Asiatic Fleet game. I'll try and refine things a bit in order to make it something useful to others- including getting the Tambor and Sal...

Re: New Supplement - Far Flung Seas

what is: This is a bad omission... like, on par with all the "Chapter X" and "Page XX" of Age of Dreadnoughts. Many mentions of 'look in Chapter X' in the Age of Dreadnoughts doesn't have the chapter number. The 'Chapter X' mentions that would have normally been replaced by chapter numbers during a...

Re: New Supplement - Far Flung Seas

It's a crying shame that the important never-were ships from the U.S.N. are missing. One of the biggest draws for this supplement was to be able to play the U.S.N.'s 'Rainbow Plans.' This supplement would have given us all the necessary nations to pull them off, and it doesn't include the best part ...

Re: New Supplement - Far Flung Seas

Nice to see the possibilities of a "War Plan Orange" scenario here!
Will there be any new rules or special traits added by this supplement?

Re: Adding 'Custom' Ships

rcbecker1 and Myrm, I'm very appreciative of your comments on this. This isn't me trying to 'expect Seekreig's level of detail' as I deliberately shunned Seekrieg as the system my friends and I would use to decide our campaign. It was too complicated for the kinds of use that I would be getting out ...

Re: [CONAN] Snapping up the Rulebooks

Only book I'm worried about is the core book. Thanks for the link, but we have all the supplements for both editions- my group just needs another copy of the core book and I'm the 'money guy.'

Re: Adding 'Custom' Ships

To open, I forgot * that the 9.2" guns on the Edward VII weren't identical to those on the Lord Nelson ... they were a shorter 47 caliber model that was designed 6 years prior to the 9.2"/L50! In that case, Myrm, shouldn't that mean that the 9.2"/L47 secondaries on the Edward VII class should also b...

Re: [CONAN] Snapping up the Rulebooks

Get ready to pay through the nose- the hardcovers are $100+ for 2nd Ed rules. If someone knows of a better deal, they are welcome to let me know! If you're patient and keep looking, you'll find deals. Keep looking at used books stores. If you find a bookstore with one of these books- especially the...

Re: Adding 'Custom' Ships

A couple of technical questions: 1.) If the guns on the Lord Nelson class battleship and the Minotaur class armored cruisers are the exact same gun in both bore and caliber, why are the ones on the Lord Nelson selected to be Weak while the guns on Minotaur are not? 2.) If 1/2 of the Canopus class b...

Re: [CONAN] Craft Overlap?

I know it's taking an abstract view of abstract rules, but here's how I viewed it: At a certain point, your guy is a truly established 'weapon smith.' It is his primary job, and any time he isn't doing something else, he's plugging away at a forge somewhere, making parts for later use. So, even thou...

Re: VaS 2.0 confirmed!

That's basically what I'm going to have to do. Find the ships with the closest match to my intended weapon, transfer it to the basic hull type and speed. Not as exact as I was hoping for, but it'll serve. The game that allowed for precise adding of any ship was Grand Fleets . They just changed it to...

Re: VaS 2.0 confirmed!

See, this was the problem- for me, it will include full fleets. I needed a flexible system that could sim large battles quickly and simple, but which allowed me to put ships that exist only in people's imaginations into the game. The only other option was dropped by the studio for a cheesy card-base...

Re: [CONAN] d20 Rules for Running a Shop? A Village?

Well... I've never actually ran a shop in a campaign. I've 'invested' in several, though. One particular campaign was Forgotten Realms and I was a cleric/rouge of Selûne. The DM put a 'roadside shrine' which had fallen on hard times in a town we frequented early in the campaign. After a particularly...
