Re: Your rules for character creation?

I use random roll, assign method, because I like some randomness. I use Elric of Melniboné setting's character creation rules (which is setting based variant of standard MRQII/Legend character creation rules). At the start of the campaign players created novice characters, but as many characters hav...

I know. But, besides giving more AP and HP, steel alternative material also gives reduced ENC to weapons.

Re: Bronze weapons

Arms of Legend assumes that weapons are either bronze or common iron as it gives steel as alternative weapon or armour material. In Arms of Legend bronze and common iron weapons and armour have same values, while steel gets bonuses. Personally I'm running campaign in a setting where steel weapons ar...

Re: Firing into a Crowd

Actually it's evade or parry test. There's no such skill or characteristic as luck: If a covered location is hit by the attack, the firer has hit one of the individuals adjacent to the target (the Games Master will decide who). The accidental target may try to evade or parry this attack as normal. ...

Re: Firing into a Crowd

If you hit the covered location then you hit the friendly. There are many examples in films, TV and real life where this happens. If the GM feels nice then the friendly could get a Luck Roll to avoid the hit. If the friendly struggles, then you could rule that there is an opening if the friendly ma...

Re: Firing into a Crowd

Firing into crowd mostly uses normal cover rules, so if you don't use choose location combat manoeuvre you risk hitting another person. If person is in the middle of the crowd there might be only one safe location to hit him (or none at all and you'll just have to hope that person(s) in front of him...

Re: Leitmotifs in Legend

I don't usually have theme songs relating to particular character, but I often play Conan the Barbarian (the 1982 movie, not the 2011 movie) soundtrack during the battles. Also Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones soundtracks offer great epic songs for many scenes. My players also like heroic metal...

Re: Burst Fire in Legend/Runequest

Thanks Olaus Petrus. In fact I don't even know the difference between Legend and RuneQuest VI. I own RuneQuest V (i.e. Mongoose RuneQuest 2) mostly for Glorantha and I think (but this is just a guess) that Legend uses the same rules framework, the only difference being that all references to Gloran...

Re: Burst Fire in Legend/Runequest

Arms of Legend also has firearms rules, but only for early modern black powder weapons. So, RQ6 firearm rules are better as those include also modern and sci-fi guns. Although those need slight conversion, because combat rules are bit different in RQ6.

Re: Effects on the body from aging

Seeing as this can make an aged character pretty decrepit, giving him some extra skill points may not be a bad idea, to give a wholesome picture of a frail and elderly, but grizzled and experienced adventurer. I once created old one armed weapon thane to MRQII Glorantha game. I think that the extra...

Re: Elric of Melniboné

Big fan of the Young Kingdoms games over the years but you know what? It's time to move on. There are new and different authors that would make new and different licensed rpgs: there's enough Moorcock stuff available to keep us old guys happy. So, who in that kind of gritty dark fantasy (and it nee...

Re: Elric of Melniboné

We can hope for Elric to come back SOMEWHERE - the statements from Matt haven't mentioned why the line has been cancelled. Was it simply poor sales? Or has somebody else snapped up the licence? I notice that all of the older Elric titles are no longer available via Drivethrurpg and even the old Cha...

Doesn't...

Re: Elric of Melniboné

MRQI and MRQII settings have disappeared and there's nothing to replace them. I would really love to see Legend versions of Hawkmoon and Lankhmar, but I doubt that it will ever happen. Mongoose might argue that Xoth has been offered as at least some kind of replacement, although worthy as it is and...

Re: Elric of Melniboné

I'm awful at soothsaying, but must say that this extended period of silence doesn't bode well for the continuation of Elric license. Elric was what got me into MRQII/Legend in the first place and is the main reason why I have stayed here rather than moved to RQ6. I hope that, in case if Mongoose doe...

Re: How do I handle a time travelling patron/servant of a de

If people insist on abusing time-travel to leave their own light-cone, the dominant ETI in the universe sends a 500 mile diameter asteroid, at near lightspeed, into their planet on a high elliptical.... Can't have folks messing with time... it might lead them to head back in time to stop the ETI fr...

Re: Elric of Melniboné

It'd be a shame to see Elric go as a supported game here, but I'm not that surprised if it does disappear from Mongoose's shelves, which it appears to have done. It's a hard sell to convince people to play it unless they're fans of Michael Moorcock and they are getting increasingly fewer. Still, I ...

Re: Elric Timeline

I would just use the one in the Elric core rules, because Moorcokc doesn't usually give exact dates. Chaosium's Stormbringer books give similar time line and their Atlas of the Young Kingdoms gives more detailed time lines for kingdoms of the Northern Continent around the time of Elric (although the...

Re: Elric of Melniboné

He really doesn't fit well with Moorcock's Lords of Law and besides that he has one of the lamest names ever. I think that as a god he would be more suitable to some other universe and pantheon. Ken St.Andre introduced Goldar to provide a triumvirate of gods to balance against the plethora of Chaos...
