Ahh yes dear Samantha... oh the heavenly dreams about her... :D

The rest of you can have Dr. McCay. His sister wasn't half bad (and I think smarter) 8)

Re: Jump Shadow rule & piracy

the destinations in the grey cone are still shadowed by the star: That shadow/cone is done from a point at the "equator" (plane of the ecliptic sliced through the star) and shooting directly into the star... *not* from a point above/below the ecliptic. basically, I'm saying your angle is all wrong ...

Re: Jump Shadow rule & piracy

I know this is your program (hence making multiple threads) and you're very proud of it...

but nothing has been answered to my satisfaction - merely waved away and rationalized.

sooo.... maybe you should stop creating multiple threads trying to drive people to your 'cute' web page? *winks*

Re: Jump Shadow rule & piracy

Something from me, and I've tried to discuss in that other thread... To me this is still a 2d discussion of a 3d system. Why can't I just plot to come on above/below the ecliptic high enough to be out of the primaries 100d limit? Why isn't our data libraries and software good enough to have (in thou...

Hello everyone. I just wanted to post that the *NEW* MI program is getting very close to launch. If you've downloaded and read the current one many things will be the same but there are some nice new benefits, clearer guidelines, etc. I encourage anyone interested in Mongooses games and enjoys teac...

Re: Animated jump shadow

Basically it misses the point that one can fly "up" (or down) in relation to the ecliptic - to the same side of the ecliptic as Barnard's star is on, and probably get out of that shadow much faster that what is being shown. Incorrect. The model takes into account that angle from our ecliptic so the...

Re: Looking for a ACTA:SF player in Northern Florida/Eastern

Earlier today I did some research using the online Yellow Pages and there is I believe in Jacksonville, FL there four stores that have games (and have been around a while). They all looked pretty cool didn't think to write them all down but anyone looking for places to play should be able to find so...

Re: Animated jump shadow

It simply demonstrates that sometimes you can't just go out to the 100D limit and jump to your destination. As you can see from the demo, for much of the year one has to go a long way from Earth to gain a Jump trajectory to Barnard's system. The Red dot represents the point where, a ship leaving fr...

Re: Animated jump shadow

I don't get the whole "jump shadow" concept as it's been presented. Every planet... heck every asteroid has its own 100d jump shadow and the farther out from its primary the longer it will be between the departure system and the target system. Depending on the angle of the departure system above/bel...

Re: will it be a hex game?

Wondering if this game will be a hex game or a free flying type of game with turning arcs. Here's a simple rule of thumb for Mongoose and their Minis games You ain't *NEVER* gonna see anything based on some kind of pre-preprinted grid.. not hex, not squares, nothing. Everything is measured like so ...

I agree, I am on "long term sick leave" from the MI until my health recovers, Matt has no issue with this. Re: ** MONGOOSE INFANTRY SEEKS VOLUNTEERS **

It is a demonstration/participation game in a local FLGS and open to all. It is probably just me but registering, taking names, getting a sign off etc. I just wish to be very clear that - IMO your characterization of this is how the Mongoose Infantry runs events is very wrong. No pre-registering th...

Re: Pot hole map (Holes in rules for GM's watch out for)

5) How do ships take off and land - Pretty much every ship is equipped with anti-grav, and that more than makes up for not having a lifting body. You don't need forward momentum to create lift, you use your ships reactor to do that for you. If I recall the anti-grav device explanation correctly, th...

Re: ** MONGOOSE INFANTRY SEEKS VOLUNTEERS **

I'm not sure I get the gist of that 'Mongoose Infantry' thing as the last thing I want in my game playing is administrative paperwork but each to his own. :D As an MI the amount of 'administrative paperwork' is indeed quite a bit - for each event you do you have: - a form, single sheet of paper to ...
