Re: 2300AD chargen questions

So, no one can answer the question: is that a skill level, or something else?

Re: 2300AD chargen questions

p.91, Hearts Option 1, roll 1 is "Persuasion." Again, no explanation or description, and it's not under Traits on p.104. Is this a level of the skill? Skills are in the Traveller Core Rulebook in the Skills chapter (per the webstore page for 2300AD : "The Traveller Core Rulebook is required to play...

2300AD chargen questions

I've just moved from reading the book to rolling characters. A few questions so far, just from 1 character. p.91, Hearts Option 1, roll 1 is "Persuasion." Again, no explanation or description, and it's not under Traits on p.104. Is this a level of the skill? Similarly, under the Subdermacalc descrip...

Re: Can This Be Run More at Conventions?

I've been surprised that Traveller isn't more visible at Origins or any of my local cons. For years, I don't recall ever seeing a Trav. adventure being played, and I suspect that's a reason I know so few players of it.

Re: NPCs, PCs, jobs, and motivation.

Burocrate: I like that. I had a similar idea for a D&D character a long time ago (SOMEONE paid for your wizard-school diploma. Now it's time to pay them back....) Also: the previous crew is dead, the captain is running from a crime syndicate/secret conspiracy with secret information that needs to be...

Re: 2300AD Core Book Preview

So, I only skimmed this thread, due to the spelling issue.

Is there a possibility of a Star Cruiser II? That's what hooked me into the 2300 setting in the first place, and drew me in again when I rediscovered the "Lone wolf" campaign in Challenge magazine.

Re: Free Epic Campaign - The Pirates of Drinax

It depends upon the plot the Referee sets. Don't look for rules. It's the Ref's job to set initial encounter distances, which basically means (if you're the Ref) that you decide whether to plunk a tasty fat merchant loaded with juicy cargo or SDB right in the characters' path or not, and they decid...

Re: Free Epic Campaign - The Pirates of Drinax

Well, that indicates that the responder is at the planet or the 100d line, but how far away is that, if the number rolled is the initial encounter distance? Depending on the thrust of the responding ship you should be able to calculate an approximate distance from the jump transit table. For exampl...

Re: Free Epic Campaign - The Pirates of Drinax

Distance at which your players encounter the other ship. It corresponds to the range bands at the start of the Space Combat chapter in the Traveller rulebook. This allows you to work out how long it will take the players to get close enough to the target to get some loot. When a local customs cutte...

Re: Free Epic Campaign - The Pirates of Drinax

New questions, on piracy and encounters. I'm new to actually running Traveller, I've been reading the setting for decades. When setting up an encounter, the intro. speaks of rolling 3d6 x the world's diameter to determine the encounter distance in 1,000 of km. Is that the distance between the ships,...

Re: Free Epic Campaign - The Pirates of Drinax

Very nice, thank you! I missed those subsector maps when I skimmed the wikia last night.

As for recruiting, I may scavenge the rules from Mercenary (which I have). I wonder if there is more in Scoundrel?

Re: Free Epic Campaign - The Pirates of Drinax

This looks really cool! And there's even a princess to woo! A few questions: where might I find more on the Trojan Reach? Specifically, how would I arrange the subsector maps that I could make up from the "Key ports" file? Second, how would one carry out recruiting? I see that worlds can have a chan...
