Re: ACTA: SF The Reflection Universe
The Reflection Universe's main problem is that there are many, many points in SFU history in which things could have gone very differently and resulted in a radically different history. Few people can agree on exactly they want to see in an alternate universe for the SFU. There appear to be lots of ...

Re: Small cloaking question.
I'm not a Mongoose employee either! I would say that if it has already moved for the turn, it's already moved for the turn, so no re-positioning move if it loses cloak. It does suck to be uncloaked, crippled, and under the enemy's guns, but c'est la guerre. Given how tough it is to penetra...

Re: [ATCA-SF] Looking Ahead - Phaser-G
I think just treating Ph-Gs as Ph-3s with 4AD should be fine. It'll be necessary to get incredibly close to enemy ships just for them to have any effect at all. Since ACTASF bases are 2" diameter IIRC, you will literally need to be in base-to-base contact just to be in range. You'll need to have the...

I knew where black-balling comes from, and it's cricket bats here in Australia. Anyway, I wanted to know what these SFB guys specifically are doing to discourage ACTASF.

Re: Morale Rules
In systems which assign victory points for the destruction of enemy ships, pulling damaged ships out of the battle will deny VPs to the opponent, which is often enough to encourage players to disengage ships from the battle. Simply assigning each ship a point value and saying that you get 50% of tha...

Re: Squadron Boxes
What does "black-balling the game" actually mean, anyway? Choosing not to play it? Bad-mouthing it? Breaking the legs of anyone they catch playing it?

Re: Gorn vs. Klingons (1000pt) breif AAR
I reckon 1000 points will be the minimum level for a good game, from what I have read. You can easily buy 5 decent ships in 1000 points, more if you go smaller than cruiser-sized. 5 ships vs 5 ships seems to be about the minimum for a fun game, and appears to be definitely playable in a reasonable a...

It makes Federation and Klingon drones a bit better then. You have to make a decision... do I really want to waste firepower on one or two drones?

Re: SF - Question About Fed Combined Drone Racks
Why would you be expected to track every single AD fired in one mode or the other for every phaser entry in what's intended to be a fast-playing fleet scale game with perhaps a dozen or more ships per side ? The assumption I made was that you had to track every AD fired... maybe it's because I come...

Re: Returning player from the B5 era.
For "standard" SFB/FC games which use miniatures or the Megahex 1" counters, it's 1" per hex. The small counters are half-inch hexes.

Re: Plasma Toprs/Bolts and energy bleed
<pedant mode>"pendant" in the OP should be "pedant"</pedant mode> :D So it loses AD faster and does half as much damage? Makes it a much less attractive option (not that it was all that attractive anyway...) although I suppose if your opponent's fleet has used up all their SAs on Intensify Defensive...

Re: Tossing out an idea for Mongoose
Writing apps for the SFB damage allocation chart and FC damage allocation charts isn't that hard, I've done it. Didn't bother submitting them because it looks like they would not be used. I think computer play aids that let you look up stuff during play or keep track of things for you would be doabl...

Re: So..... Whos taking Kzinti to the upcoming tournament in
Realistically, they are not going to stop all of those drones. They may not even stop most of them. Yes, you're almost certainly going to inflict some damage on the opposing force with all those drones. The question is, are you wearing him down faster than he wears you down? As Matt pointed out, sma...

Re: Mongoose minis for VAS?
I noticed that ships that fought against each other seemed to have their renders posted on the ADB boards at the same time, e.g. Hood & Bismarck, or the ships that fought in the Battle of the River Plate. Is that a hint that you intend to release box sets of minis to recreate specific famous battles...

Re: Romulan War Eagle Question
That's a mis-translation from the Klingonese, which uses a word with no direct equivalent in English. You can get closer to the original meaning by substituting "large" with "phat".Meanwhile the Klingon F5, noted in the book as the largest frigate, is not the largest frigate by a long way,

Re: a game question about multi hit
As far as Escalate goes, you check every turn that the critical level is at the Escalate level or higher. Fires get worse if left unchecked! The way I understand it, you check for Escalation if, at the point of the turn at which Escalation checks are made, any critical tracks are at the Escalation t...

Re: Tossing out an idea for Mongoose
Oooh, ooh! Pick me, pick me! [waves hand] I can do Android. Well, pretty basic Android stuff anyway. I have done a bit of programming for Android for the SFB and FC DACs, but haven't sent it to ADB. I asked about this on the SFU On Call episode in which the ADB crew called in and answered questions....
