Re: 2500 and 2400 scale comparison!

Air holes? Perhaps the holes where the metal was poured into the mold was meant? I suppose resin miniature molds are different, do you spin those as you do with metal molds?

Re: 2500 and 2400 scale comparison!

From what I have gathered from haunting the ADB boards, the excessively deep lines in the saucer are a known issue and there have been discussions about them. The example is probably a prototype of some sort, probably easier to cast prototypes in metal than resin.

Re: ACTA:SF Product Listings on TGN

I have heard similar rumours that that the initial ship selection is based on KB/RB. So the Federation, Klingons and Romulans should be well represented. The other empires in the first two Federation Commander products were the Gorns ("Arena"), Tholians ("The Tholian Web"), Orion Pirates (not sure w...

Re: A Call To Arms Star Fleet question

I'm looking forward to the release of ACTA: SF, ACTA: B5 still has its devotees in Australia so maybe I'll be able to rope some people into playing!

Re: ACTA:SF Product Listings on TGN

I thought the box contents are meant to be identical to the ADB boxes. The boxes which are intended to replace the existing Starline 2400 box sets are identical to the ADB ones (in this case, the Squadron boxes with 5 or 6 ships). Blister packs, well ADB currently sells three Federation frigates in...

Re: A Call To Arms Star Fleet question

Tactical combat is ~warp 3.2. Warp 4 would be 64 hexes per turn. For your own sanity's sake, do not get hung up over scale issues. It's science fantasy (like pretty much all of Trek) not science fiction (Traveller). There are inconsistencies in the scale of the game (not ADB's fault, it's in the sou...

3. What happened to Scavengers? Each class has a table where you roll up what Diet the creature has (Herbivore, Omnivore, Carnivore) but none of these tables have Scavengers! The Behaviour Models DO list Scavengers though...??? It seems to me that "scavenger" is not a diet but a way of getting food...

And the electronic version of the MRB is electronically searchable, making it much easier to find stuff.

.. then pin it in the center of the cage area and TRY to sculpt energy lines along the pins to the receivers.
Stiff wire for the energy lines. Fuse wire maybe?

A skirmish scale miniatures game would be better, but you'd need an infinitely large, 23-dimensional table to represent the inside of the TARDIS. Which would be a little impractical. Not to mention trying to find terrain for it.

The Star Trek timeline differs from the SFU timeline. The SFU is somewhat agnostic on exactly what century AD it's set in... Federation Commander sets first contact between Humans and Vulcans at 2400AD IIRC, so the SFU primary history is in the 25th - 26th centuries, not the 23rd. That's the "Valken...

In the SFU background, everyone get similar classes of ship because every navy has the same jobs to do... All fleets need scouts because all fleets need electronic warfare support, for example. Most of these specialty classes have been left out of FC to keep the rules simple.

AFAIK Larry Niven's contribution to the Animated Series was taken straight from his Known Space story The Soft Weapon, which is a great story... in the Known Space context. The SFU does have stasis boxes, many of them left behind by "The Old Kings", an empire which existed prior to the rise of the F...

I don't know how they will do it for AcTA: SF, but in the other games there is usually a little background info on each ship (2-3 paragraphs). There has also been published "class histories" in Captain's Log, detailing the careers of all the ships of a particular class.

ETA: This was in response to Da Boss' question on class names. Off the top of my head: Federation CA: either Constitution or Constellation or some other word beginning with "C". There's also the "R-class" (Republic, Reshadije) which are very similar but have a different class history. Fed BCH: Bisma...
