Re: Precise vs Accurate +1
Ryuokami is correct.
Accurate adds to your to-hit roll. Only natural rolls of 6 get past the shields.
Precise adds +1 to the roll for each hit to see if it hits a bulkhead or not. In effect, Precise weapons will never hit bulkhead and score critical hits on a 5 or 6.

Re: Split game/community SFB ACTA
For what it's worth, I agree. Two different versions of the arcs would tend to fracture the player base, and that would be bad. SFB experiences fracturing of the player base with its optional rules, for example groups that use electronic warfare vs. those that don't. The ninety-degree arcs decision h...

Deadhane, its your own fault if you can't hit an evading target. As D-FENS said to the guy with the bag full of guns in the movie Falling Down:

Re: Which one goes BOOM?
It was a mistake because that opened the doors for fighters and carriers, which came to dominate the game. As for removing it, there was a period where ADB issued raftloads of rules changes and "errata", which drove a lot of gamers away and those who remember it and still play are allergic to change...

Quite the contrary, Gornhide leather makes an excellent covering for armchairs. At the moment, almost everyone here is armchairing the Gorn. That ain't gonna work.

Re: New Errata
From our point of view, you can ignore most of the errata and will find the game balanced. It is not us that is insisting on these additional changes. And that's an excuse for doing a sloppy job? Adding the wrong phasers in, then deleting the wrong phasers in an attempt to correct the error? Gettin...

Re: Second game, new questions
Deadshane, the Critical Score is simply a way of tracking how severe the critical is. You do NOT take extra damage based on the number in the Critical Score heading on the table, only on the Extra Damage entry for that Critical Score. It's that simple. This is the example, its very clear in the book...

Re: Waiting For Minis? Mega Hex!
The Federation Commander sets had megahex counters, so you can get those as spare parts from ADB if you are looking for particular ships or empires. [As an old FC player I have many megahex counters. What I'm still waiting for is a %^$#@!!! rulebook . I can live without minis as long as I have RULES...

Re: Alternate Alpha Complexes - A website
Alpha Complex is like Springfield in The Simpsons. It has whatever is required for the needs of the plot, whether it's Springfield Gorge, the Monsterhorn mountain, only one bridge out of town, etc. And these geographical features are completely ignored in any subsequent episode they are not needed. ...

Re: Has anyone in the U.S. received their Fleet Boxes?
We also assumed (quite wrongly, it now seems) that ...ex-SFB/FC players would not come back to Star Fleet in large numbers, and that even if they did, they would continue to use their existing collection of 2400's. When Federation Commander was released, Steve Cole believed that the new game (FC) w...

Re: SF - Quick Launch and Suicide Shuttles
Equally, it could be argued that since it takes power to arm a SS, and Gorns don't get twice the power to arm SS as everyone else, you only launch one.
Remember that shuttles aren't just used for suicide missions, you also use them to move Marines around, and Gorns got plenty of those.

Re: ACTA:SF Ramming?
Suicide freighters don't ram, the hold is packed full of atomic bombs (according to the FC rulebook), and when it gets close enough to its target, it blows up. "Close enough" in this case is still far enough away that no defensive fire is possible, unlike a drone or plasma torpedo. If you wanted to ...

Re: SF - Quick Launch and Suicide Shuttles
I believe that, in regard to the "do you know if it's an SS?" question, everyone would know. Everything else in the rules is open information.
