Re: Creatures of Legend

I'm also assembling a list of useful generic NPCS, which range from Amazon Priestess to Mercenary Veteran to Pirate Captain :) Atm, I'm writing a rather complete set of horror story scenarios, wherein such things as doctors, butchers and bankers will also have stats. I guess I'm uploading them to s...

Re: Major and Minor Actions (house rule concept)

Maybe its just the evil GM in me, but I would make it an area attack at full Skill against every target in the area of effect because I want my giant-sized creatures to be a giant-sized threat for the characters. This would really make something like a kraken, with its high damage modifie...

Re: Common Fantasy races

Legend still needs lizard men and serpent people, though. :) Elves, orcs, dwarves, goblins and ogres are all in Monsters of Legend though. Trolls and giants, too. Werewolves and vampires, and zombies. But we're short of the likes of Ents, merfolk, Sirens, Sidhe, succubi, birdfolk and, yes, reptilia...

Re: Major and Minor Actions (house rule concept)

Interesting house rules. However, do note that if a monsters Evade and movement speed is high enough, it can decide to only stay in the fight for the important part of it's CAs before it moves away. So combats would go like this: Round 1: PC Turn: 3 PCs go into close combat with longer reach monster...

Re: Encounter metrics

That is a highly scientific method of designing encounters. I just eyeball it and work for an average of 1 opponent per PC with an average base of 2 CA adjusting HP and skills depending on how challenging I want the encounter to be. Half General HP for minions if there is a mob, otherwise it's gene...

Re: Encounter metrics

That's interesting. How would you count magic or Legendary Abilities? Would those effectively increase the effectiveness of the CAs or possibly add CAs to the calculation? The problem with adding magic is that it is very binary in effect. But it's power is often really high. If for example a charac...

Re: Encounter metrics

Dan is mostly right, but here's the tricks I'd use (Or what I put down when he talked about making a DM's guide): To get a rough view, I'd count "effective CAs" (ECA). This should be a monsters or characters number of CAs multiplied by his chance for those CAs to actually do something. For example: ...

Re: Modern Legend

This is what I would prefer as a way of publishing, but we haven't discussed it yet, so Mixster might or might not disagree. We'll have a detailed talk of it somewhere in the future. - Dan I think I'd be fine with it, I think Urban Legends was suggested some way back, but Modern Legends is just as ...

Nice.

Isn't he wrong though?
IIRC in legend rolling lower is not always better. In opposed tests, if both succeed the higher roll wins?

Re: Warhammer Conversion

I dont think balance is that important to me anymore. Once upon a time, i had players who would mini max, but these days my players are interested purely in roleplaying. The more choice of interesting characters they get to play, all the better. They wouldnt look at an Ogre and go Yep, thats more p...

Re: Warhammer Conversion

Its easier and arguably more realistic to have a modifer intereacting with non High Elves? Absolutely not. Charisma gives improvement rolls, so hitting elves in this area makes them balanced. Sure you might not want to balance your races. Offering people a choice of race where some are obviously be...

Re: Warhammer Conversion

re Elves In Warhammer, Elves are no weaker than humans (thats a D+D thing), they are however quicker and more agile as you already have them :). I would think something like this? In warhammer, even elven lords are capped at T3, which suggest they have a way lower maximum constitution/size than oth...

Hi, What happens when you raise an attribute, does the corresponding skill rise too? I've been reading AoT (and loving it) and it occured to me that if I was a competant aritificer I could trash my physical stats, raise them cheaply at the new lower costs then harvest the attributes back from the i...

Re: Starting Legends

Uuuh a DnD discussion! Just one point on combat that I would like to add. A lot of real life tactics that don't really work in DnD, will work in Legends. Phalanxes and shield walls with spearmen behind, or archers who give cover/act as a distraction for flanking cavalry work great. . Yep, suddenly b...
