Re: If you could what crew would you pick for the Prometheus

Hmn, I wouldn't say that was down to Peter knowing stuff before hand, I'm sure alot was guess-work. David was clearly ordered to find an Engineer and make contact. When he reported to Weyland this mission was a failure because they were all dead - that's when he was told to 'Try Harder'. This is thr...

Re: Big Jobs in Book 6: Scoundrel?

A bit of perspective - I am running Cstars, atm the crew are in a Perth class Bulk Freighter, 2000 dtons of ship and a mortgage payment of 1,947,980 per month. Ontop of that comes in maintenance, which is 467,515 credits per month and Life Support which comes to 15 staterooms and 40 grav-couches (so...

Re: If you could what crew would you pick for the Prometheus

@ Kafka - I believe it was Vickers who was there (at least it was her front) to protect Weyland Corp interests. I think from what we did see, those mercs and maintenance red-shirts were actually real people. I had the sense at this time there were only David 8's about, though Janek's questioning of ...

Re: Zero's new Chthonian Stars ship

After playing some games with Trading in Cstars, I think it is possible to push Trade past the Inner System and visit the Outer System, at least to Saturn (Uranus and Neptune truly are pioneering venues). To this end, I'm going to be reducing some costs of my Orbital (such as getting rid of some thi...

Big Jobs in Book 6: Scoundrel?

Hello, it has been some time since I was here last, though it is good to see that the recent release of Prometheus coupled with interest in running Aliens in Traveller has brought my Alien in Traveller thread up to Page 1 again! I came to ask something as I have been running Traveller games a...

Re: Help with totalling AU between worlds

The thing is that I am finding it difficult, to the point I may think I have mathematical dyslexia (I'm not being funny, I genuinely have trouble with numbers alot of the time). :( If I could find out how to work out how many AU are between worlds based on the info given about them (Ascension, Decli...

Re: Help with totalling AU between worlds

Luckily I know how to calculate delta-v and similar mechanics thanks to the Project Rho Atomic Rockets site, but instead I'm speaking more about Torchships and the use of orrerys to total the distance between the min and max distance two planets have on a specific date (something beyond even Project...

Re: Help with totalling AU between worlds

Thanks, BP! :) I already know the math behind coasting speeds and accel/deccel as a seasoned Traveller player, I actually managed to get pretty far totalling things out, but now I have got to a point that is far too complex for myself alone! Perhaps I worded it a little wrong, but what I meant to sa...

Re: Help with totalling AU between worlds

Far-Trader, trig would be great and thanks for the help, but I am awful at that whole level of math, I really need something more layman or at least explained to me that I can use my windows calculator to sort out a total  I'm playing Cstars, which uses the T-Drive; like a mini Jump drive it p...

Help with totalling AU between worlds

I am at the moment going through plotting a game set in our solar system that uses Reaction Drives to travel between each planet. I want to get travel distances accurate between each world, and whilst I know the AU each planet is from the sun and how to total the closest and furthest distances in AU...

Re: Legality of ship weapons

^ Ha, very fair point. Heres my current statblock for an orbital cargo liner used mainly to ferry people and cargo between Earth, where it is based, and Mercury (where orbital transport shuttles collect and deliver over the passengers and cargo). Its from the Chthonian Stars setting. As you can see,...

Re: Dynasty and usefulness in Cstars

I'm interested in getting some backstory and a better timeline for the inner system worlds, I think Dynasty could work to show TRIAD (Terrestrial Research, Infrastructure and Development) and their grip over Mercury for the past 93 years (That would make them into their fourth generation of governin...

Dynasty and usefulness in Cstars

So I am slowly getting more interest in the Chthonian Stars setting for Traveller and maybe even playing an inner system Free Trading game for it. I already have a customised orbital ready to go with profitability just fine. Now, its been a while since I've been here and I see Dynasty is released. I...

The blurb makes it sound like the water world I created for "The worst planets in the OTU" thread way back when, a world of madness for political dissidents with a LL of 16!

Re: Did commdots ever get erratted?

I always have my characters use a personal advanced comm in the Official Universe anyway. The wristband video-phone is pretty cool and can log itself into a planet's or ship's communication satellite array 8)
