Take it that is your own write up? Yes, well apart from the cost and the displacement, but not, I think, an unreasonable write up (though we can quibble about how much life support, and the limited manoeuvre capability). After all, that sci-fi staple the escape pod is usually some robust metal coff...

Since player characters usually managed to get through at least four years of a career without earning themselves a Darwin Award, I think one can assume that they can handle simple problems ... 8) Hmm... Not sure about that, especially when the simple problem is not something they have had to do be...

Good idea Dave . Mage , sounds like the PCs wouldn't necessarily need to own the ship - they could crew it, charter it, or lease it, perhaps? Hmm are you familiar with Hope's Folly by Linnea Sinclair? Its set in a future age where a coup has left the area in the grip of a civil war. The heroes come...

We started with three completely stand alone fire fights, just to make sure that we all understood the rules. Then, having previously generated characters and designed ship, on to trading and a number of Star port type encountesr, (non violent) leading to the first "proper" adventure as an enemy fro...

When did the 600CR, very light, rescue bubble (p97)become the 100,000CR escape pod displacing 0.5 dtons (p 111)? Escape Pod, 100,000 CR, lifesupport for 1 person for 24 hours, able to accomodate 2 persons at a squeeze (12 hours life support), med kit including 2 doses of fast drug, rescue beacon, ba...

Yeah, I need to do a proper design job on the super missiles, it would need to carry sufficiecnt point defence to keep away anti missile missiles, remember that swarms of super missiles would be launched againstt capital ships, possibly behind swarms of smaller ordanance, which would be intended to...

Of course, and the 40t killers will also carry anti anti missiles, kinetic kill or otherwise, to deal with the capital ship counter measures. I doubt it. You've already spec'd a ton of stuff into just a 40 hull. The capital ships could afford to launch ~5 1 ton kill vehicles at each one. A 40t ship...

The biggest damage bay weapon will do, against a ship without armour, a triple hit and a double hit. If one of those is weapon and one hull the target is basicly intact. Weapons damage ships slowly which is fine for a sci fi recreation of "wooden walls" and "hearts of oak" but can be a bit slow for...

Not impressed?, Not really. If these were used, Capital ships would just deploy kinetic kill vehicles scaled appropriately to take out the 40t "killers". As they would be much smaller than the 40t adversary, they could carry more. Move, counter move. Threat nullified. Of course, and the 40t killers...

Fascinating stuff, seems a shame to return to the original theme of this thread, so here are a few ideas about missiles in MoT. I have raised this before on another thread, but nuclear warheads, especially on torpedoes (heavy missiles?) are greatly underpowered, especially on a contact hit. On a sim...

I think that in a 3I type setting repairs and spares will be well organised, esp along the busy mains, so if the players are paying their monthly maintence, not sustaining extreme battle damage, if maintence is being done at a C+ starport and if I don't need the group to be stuck on that particular ...

Actually, that is the point. It just sailed by you. The manufacturer makes SURE that this doesn't happen so that people keep buying their ships. Thinking of my Pandora setting, this would mean that each megacorpora- tion that produces starships would send a complete set of at least all the common s...

I just realised that "StarWars/D6", "DS9" and "Renegade Legion:Legionnaire" are marketed under a false label. They claim to be RPGs but they can't be since they have no rules to properly simulate business, the typical elements of the military background and similar elements necessary for the typica...

Serenity is the movie that "finishes" the open storylines left behind by the series Firefly. The RPG used the 1.ed "Cortex" System, one of the "storytelling-orientend" systems that adds a "plotpoints" approach where a player can spend plotpoints to change outcomes. Pp are also used to aquire certai...

Yeah, like I said the Serenity/Firefly scripts could easily be based on a player diary of a series of Trav adventures. Not 3I, definately a YTU, but never saw the point of a specific "Serenity" game when a 10 page supplement, or article in S&P, would give you all the information you needed. That so...

What, like the crew of Serenity? Ageed, should be much more interesting than one about dishonourable and deceitful space pixies.

Perhaps it will even "solve" this thread.

About the 'illegal' part... My read is that the Law Level Table lists items that are illegal to possess without authorization . I.e., restricted with legal penalties. This does not mean that the items are banned completely - but rather legally limited to those as allowed by law and legal authoritie...
