What will happen to Monster Coliseum/ Monster Island?

MC has Gloranthan monsters in it, so I presume they will be excised when the book is reissued. Will Monster Island be integrated into the new volume or is that project dead?

Will the renamed system become OGL? I hope so as that was the biggest disappointment with MRQ2. No promises, but we are certainly considering it. That would be excellent news if it came to pass. I have a feeling there's a lot of pent-up energy waiting to burst forth on this system (it's one of the ...

Thanks for all the work you and Loz did in revitalizing one of the great rules sets.

Best wishes for the future - I for one will be investing in your next project(s).

At one point I recall this was going to be called Odyssey of Terror, which I always thought had the right feel. A bunch of PCs suddenly traveling with the most powerful psychopath the world has ever seen...

That's some task he's taken on! But if anyone can do it, it's Loz.

No need for a new poll - we were going to go with Impale! anyway with The Rune Quester in the subtitle. The subtitle can be changed.

Jujitsudave has been doing a great job creating his proto-Arthurian world in his Exodus of Rome campaign. That'd be a good one to write up and publish.

SPEAR CATCH, Dex 15+, 1H Melee Combat Style 90%+, HP 8 On a successful IH opposed Athletics test against a thrown missile attack, the hero catches the missile. If they gain a combat maneuver, they can throw the weapon back. What is "On a successful IH opposed Athletics test" supposed to mean? I'm p...

ThatGuy and Ultor have both posted Minotaur's Blow, but different versions. ThatGuy's version lasts for STR in combat rounds, Ultor's lasts for only one combat round. Does anyone know which of these is the original ability as published? I don't recall but I suspect I changed it to one CR as it seem...

I've been contemplating Pantheon worship for my long-term homebrew project and I think Simulacrum has exactly the right approach - you worship then pantheon, but can specialize in an individual deity, like Augustus had Apollo as his patron. When I was running Chaosium Runequest I actually ran what i...

That reminds me. Something I've not used yet as a GM but plan to is for large creatures to use outmanoeuvre against PCs. E.g. the dragon is surrounded by 6 enemies but its lashing tail, constantly threatening bite and so on makes it hard for most of them to take a decent shot at it. I see no reason...

As someone who was once Returning Officer for the largest AV/STV-based election in mainland Britain at the time, I have to say FPTP is ideal here.

Rather than having such specific Lore (Theology) distinctions, I'd just make the casting of a spell from another aspect Difficult or Hard depending on how different the aspects are. For instance, I expect Orlanth Dragonbreaker to be so specialized (cf its virtual disappearance after the fall of the ...

Nope, twelve signs in Ptolemy and probably earlier. See eg the Dendera Zodiac: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dendera_zodiac dated at 50 BC.

The die was found in Egypt, and so may well exhibit oriental influences like the Dendera relief.

The Romans had a zodiac too - 12 more symbols. And the Earth was worthy of a symbol too. That makes your 13. The face with the damage is almost certainly Gemini, for instance. The "fire rune" below it is the Sun, or Apollo. I think the top right is the arrow of Sagittarius, the stylized V at the bot...

Simulacrum is of course right. There's very little evidence as to what this could be for, but divination or some sort of game with astrological content seem the most likely explanations. I view it myself as proof that the Romans had random encounters, but I think that's a marginal viewpoint...

Well, we'd decided not to include Gloranthan material in the zine, but the news that RuneQuest is no longer the name of the game has taken us by surprise! The title was to have been 'Impale! The Rune Quester's Magazine' but for now it'll just be 'Impale!' When Wayfarer comes out, we'll gauge reactio...

Name for MRQ Fanzine

Poll to give me some input on what to call the new fanzine. I have a definite favorite, but if it proves unpopular - or another is much more popular - I might change my mind. Feel free to suggest other names. I'll leave this poll open for three days. I could only post so many names, so some have alr...
