I'm coming in a bit late, sorry if I am rehashing this after the fact. However I find it's useful to limit where the Common Magic can come from. If certain cults, secret organizations or guilds have access to certain spells then you are limited from learning them without being in those organizations...

With php it could be web based, in fact it typically is. So anyone with a web site and php on their server could host the script. There are some significant things in my way of doing this though including the holidays and studying for a certification. If I do decide to do it later, maybe midyear... ...

I've pondered doing something like that in php. I cannot claim to be an excellent programmer by any stretch of the imagination but with a clear outline of how those generations work... I or some other folks here could probably whip up something.

missing runes

Doing a little google searching I found reference to at least 5 runes that aren't listed in MRQ. They are Dark Earth, Ice, Shadow, Trade and Undead. Were these redundant? What kind of effects did they have? It does seems all of the runes have been dropped from Legend and while that may be good, I'm ...

Although truthfully I think the best thing would be a 'classic fantasy' book. About as standard a realm as possible which is designed to lure people who grew up on the forgotten realm, greyhawk, earthdawn etc. Runequest has a lot of off base fantasy but not so much central ones. Well... I for one feel that I lack enough history with the game to make balanced spells. Understanding the limits of what makes a good Common Magic spell, or if its too power and should be pushed up into Divine or Sorcery. What makes it too powerful for lower ranks in Divine and Sorcery ect.
