Re: How to handle the complexities of combat.

I have that pasted on the back of the official GM screen (and a couple of other charts too). I also use a combat tracker, which is dead handy, you can tick off CAs used, SRs etc etc.. I got it from the mrq wiki here: http://mrqwiki.com/wiki/images/1/1e/002_CombatTrackingSheet.pdf I find it very use...

Re: Creating Black Powder

But standard alchemy without AOT kinda doesn't work for chemical crafting like black powder. Yet the AOT is very magical based and seems to lack mundane types of crafting. No poisons, black powder or other non-magical drafts are covered if I recall correctly. Making basic soap for instance should be...

Re: difficulty & haste for spells

LOL! Might agree with you on that one. It's why I started looking closer at crafting time. It will change my opinion of how that works. The book suggests that if you want a better item though you need better materials too. Just an fyi. I have a player who wants to take craft chemistry too but I am h...

Re: difficulty & haste for spells

Hmmm....What about with crafting? I'd have to assume there might be limits to using extra time crafting an item. Wouldn't it already be assumed you have plenty of time in your work area to make something? What do you guys do? So... about the crafting. I don't see any time frames for crafting in the...

Re: Alternative Magic Systems

I've always thought the black company d20 magic system and mrq sorcery looked similar in some ways. A further mod of sorcery using the black company magic system would be cool.

Re: difficulty & haste for spells

I'd go for allowing the scale of effect to go up as well, based on the fact that you might have to take your time in order to scale up beyond what you're normally capable of. Reaching beyond your capacity is one hallmark of sorcerers, after all ... But isn't that the purpose of increasing your skill?

Re: difficulty & haste for spells

These are good points. I'm leaning toward not allowing crafting or magic skills to be prepped in that way. Thinking that I'd rather give add difficulty to crafting in the field though instead of making it a higher quality. And with magic prep, what does that mean for sorcery anyway... you'd just be ...

For a Buck... thats a dandy idea. Even if they don't fit your world it's easy to rip/copy/paste/edit something that works. I like it!

Do you guys use the difficulty and haste modifiers for spells too? I assume you do.

Re: Curious about your homebrews.

I agree they can be hard to come up with. In fact I told my players yesterday when they were making characters it might be fun to create a couple of cults in the process. It wasn't a total success but there were some and thats what counts in the long run.

Re: Why 21?

I think stuff like this has turned confused a lot of us new to the system from time to time. There are a lot of little things like the 21 racial maximum we wonder where it came from and why it's there. A lot of it are hold-overs and "thats the way we've always done it" types of things. It's a hold o...

Re: Down Time For Fun And Profit

I agree, sometimes an adventure not being epic can be more fun than chasing down the dragon's horde. Bad rolls while learning a language skill you mentioned could land the character in prison, guess they would pick up a lot of street slang there.
