All, These auction are still going with a number of people watching. I also decided to add quite a number of other things as well. It is time to thin out my inventory of gaming items. Current auctions include: GHQ WWI USN fleet I recently painted (posted pics in this forum) Several War at sea models...

Yep, I read the reviews on Boardgamegeek and saw that. From great to mediocre reviews, they all came back to not liking the map. The style is something like the old AH Victory At Sea game, so I will sort it out. Heck, may even actually play it once or twice. :) But I find that, as I collect the Fig...

My wife was on Ebay looking at some things and at my request found a whole lot of the Great War at Sea products, and got the Cruisers module pretty cheaply, so I will get a chance to try this out much sooner than I had expected. Figured with a preponderance of cruiser models among my WW1 collection...

In multi-player Fire As She Bears games, the fleet commander first creates a "signals book" with copies for each player on his side. This gives a hint of the historical issue of having pre-determined sets of signals available, but not necessarily the same ones the enemy is using. Next, at the start...

I played some Pre-Dread RJW (Battle of Yellow Sea) last night using another rule set with a friend and my eldest son. My son took command of the Russian fleet and my friend and I divided the IJN command. We developed our strategy to cut off the Russian fleet and sailed out to meet them. http://i441....

Excellent Job! For a "generic" look I would say you captured the essence of each fleet very well and the look anything but generic. ;)

Look forward to you battle reports.

Campaign Idea Using AP games

I know some already do this, but wondering if anyone here has used Avalance Press Naval Games (GWAS or SWWAS) for a campaign. http://www.avalanchepress.com/ I currently own most of the GWAS games that are currently in print and am slowly aquiring many of the SWWAS titles. The concept is you use the ...

Thanks! I will certainly check those out. I found some good bargains on Noble Knight games but they are rather hit and miss. They will have something listed but then out of stock after a bit of a teaser. Noticed there are a lot of these on Ebay, too. Any suggestions on which ones to start with? Jut...

I looked those up. Interesting. I'll have to keep one of those on my Christmas list. For now, every penny of my available hobby cash is buying more ships. Thankfully, Christmas isnt that far off right now. Tom I hear you. BTW, not to take business directly away from AP. If you are just lookin...

All, I have received a very fair offer for the Painted USN ships. My plan is to accept this offer on Sunday evening and place the remainder on E-bay if I do not get any other offers. Priority goes to someone who wants the entire lot which I am currently willing to accept $125 + shipping for everythi...

All, These are again avialble for sale. The buyer who made the original offer on another forum has not responded to any of my PMs in the last week accepting the offer, so I will assume he is no longer interested. Here is another pic to help guage the quality of the minis that are painted(USS New Yor...

I'll have to check those out. I have the Victory By Any Means/Fire As She Bears campaign system for age of sail, and it has a lot that could be done for more modern campaigns. The biggest problem we face with WW1 is a pretty limited number of historical scenarios, so having something for a scenario...

For what if/campaign ideas I would encourge you to check out Avlance press Great War at Sea (GWAS) and Second World War at Sea (SWWAS) serries. Great games in their own right with excellent historical and whatif scenarios included. The MAPS are superb. I have been slowly collecting them all. My long...

These games are a great educational tool for me. Sure I knew about the battle of the Falklands, but definately not the complete OoB or the other details before playing games like these.

It is all about learning the history.

An earlier thread mentioned the HMS Carnarvon being there at a distance of about 20 miles behind the rest of the British line. I have it added in as an optional item for when the local group get to the scnenario. No idea how it will play out. I'll either leave it up for consensus or have the two si...

Beautiful ships! I'm not sold on whether or not Canopus would've made a difference at Coronal though. She was worn out, her guns worn smooth, not fast enough to get close, and not fitted for long range firing. They turned her into a battery at Stanley, which was probably the best they could do with...
