Re: High jump Shipping and Ticket costs

Oh, it does. But the pilots & drivers of United Federal Parcel Express Service aren't PCs in an RPG... They are gonna try to take that 747 from San Pedro to Long Beach and still want to make a profit. LOL PCs do lots of things that are strange, that is just what WE do. Mistake in there, f...

Re: Maintenance Costs

Pay the monthly amount. This covers BOTH any monthly check ups and light bulb replacements the ships engineer does as part of his daily maintenance while the ship is in use AND the two week overhaul at a shipyard once a year where the ship is completely shut down and opened up by a dedicated team of...

Hopefully we will get to see HG 2 fairly soon so we can beta that one and start to make sense of ship rules that seem odd in the core rule book.

Re: Lack of Fuel

Something which is very clear in a lot of the rules is that it has been written BY Traveller players FOR Traveller players. There are a number of places where we long term players are arguing which would be complete chaos for someone coming into the game new. While some will find the presence of exp...

Re: Point Defense

Next question. What about point defence fire that is NOT a reaction, the gunner sitting there with his triple laser who only shoots incoming missiles, not a reaction along with something else but his ONLY action in that six minute period? After all once you start going up in size even player range s...

Re: Point Defense

Just a quickie - have changed things so you can carry on blasting away even if you miss, but that modifier continues to grow... So an individual gunner, with a triple laser turret, gets the same number of shots as a guy with a single laser in a turret? Just want to make sure there's no + DM if you ...

Re: What have your characters been doing during space combat

My lazy crew sipped coffee. Pilot and gunners handled most of it. Think it's time for a new crew. Rubbish, the engineer was busy keeping the engines from exploding because of the abuse the pilot was putting them through, the astrogator was busy constantly re plotting the jump to safety. The sensor ...

Re: Basic Passage

Also note: Basic Passage will go up by Cr1000 per jump if the LS changes to Cr1000 per person aboard Does that mean that life support costs are included in the cost of the jump per passenger or are they still paid separately ? To avoid confusion it's probably better to have them separate to cover n...

Re: Double and Triple Missiles

Okay, been giving this a lot of thought. I am okay with just one weapon in a turret firing at a time - the assumption is that combat at very long distances requires a lot of calculations, which would be different for different types of weapons. So, just one attacks. Note to Self: This does imply th...

Re: Reloading Missile Racks

From a dedicated magazine, that being space allocated on the deck plan for a magazine next to the turret. Takes 1 space combat round to reload. Reloading from the cargo bay somewhere else still takes 1D6 x 10 minutes? Or maybe 1D6 x six minutes to reflect the space combat rounds being 6 minutes. So ...

Re: Particle Beams

Either tech 9 or tech 10.

Tech 9 because it's been around for a bit but they only just invented a turret big enough to take it

or

Tech 10 because they invented the triple turret and someone said, hey with a turret they big maybe would could make a particle beam a bit smaller and get it to fit.

Changing this to 1 ton of parts for every 10 Hull points... Maybe add a note in there that spare parts consists of materials that can be used for all sorts of functions ala 3D fabrication if the intention is to attract new people who don't have 20 years of Traveller history in their heads. So spare...

I played in one game where that happened. Wish we had had the rules from Merchant Prince back then... When multiple ships are part of the game, then Merchant Prince and the rules for companies becomes invaluable. ALSO, if you are setting up a trading company, then likely you won't be using the Trad...

Re: Airlocks

Depends on where you open the cargo hatch; if it's on the ground or directly into the starport, not really a problem. More of a problem when you're moving cargo between ships in space, for example transferring the cargo from that captured ship over to your own freighter after the warship did the pi...

Re: Buying a ship

Multi ship games can be great, with lots of options available to a group. They do require some people to create second characters if the ships are very different but getting together a group with several ships leads to lots of new adventure possibility. It becomes complex when you end up with a scou...
