Traveller is THE big name in sci-fi roleplaying, it's the D&D of the genre. Definitely agree with this. There are other great SF games out there (Starblazer Adventures and Diaspora to name just two) but Traveller is definitely the "D&D Daddy" of them all. I've said it earlier, but stick a really po...

You could even say that the one slot holds a week's worth of 'meals' aka 'rations' if you want. If something doesn't gel from the rules, it's not set in stone. No RPG rule should be ever be set in stone. Houserules are the meat-and-potatoes of the RPG world. Exactly. Just go with what fits your gam...

hello, I'm one of the original mega-deal customers and still haven't received my book 15 (live in California). I was wondering after how much time has passed should I get worried? Is there anyway I can contact mongoose and get a tracking number for my book, or get confirmation that the book has ind...

Sorry, didn't quite explain myself - yep, leatherbound is really nice but I don't think the inside matches it in quality due to poor art, art lacking in consistent theme, and uninspiring (although clean!) layout.

I think you need to arrive at what feels right for your game Hellebore. If you want a degree of realism then Sir Brad's comments are absolutely spot on, but if you aren't bothered about such things then go with any one of your houserules. Personally I stick with the one meal per backpack slot rule a...

I have to disagree you there, while the content of RQ2 is solid, the looks leave much to be desired at least when compared to other RPGs out there today. RQ2 looks like an ugly duckling compared to the likes of Pathfinder, Legend of the Five Rings, Eclipse Phase, Shadowrun etc. It does not really h...

Stick the Conan setting to it and you won't be perplexed any longer.

Hmmm, you see I'd draw a different conclusion. I agree with you about it being a fragile industry but I think if Mongoose were rushing these and throwing money at them I'd be more concerned as they'd be making big losses year on year. As it is, they aren't investing all their resources into the game...

Completely agree with you. I don't think people should remain silent. If they aren't happy they should: 1) Enquire privately with the company in question 2) If that doesn't result in a fair and reasonable response and improvement in service then the enquiry/complaint should go public. 3) If there's ...

Out of interest Jolt, have you emailed Mongoose about your concerns?

Appreciate that you're posting here but it may be more productive to actually send a private communication to the company before airing your concerns in public, so to speak.

Personally, I also give all classes a Willpower stat even if their disciplines don't use it as there may be occassions when I like to roll against it in some kind of challenge.

Nice work, Mr Code. I would shudder to think of what weapons could work to the horizon... The extreme ranges are more to do with movement and godspear type weapons. I had some ideas about developing a system of warfare that could use them and wanted to have a unified mechanic. Never really develope...

Yeah, those look good. I'd maybe go for more range between the lower and upper limits of your damage bonuses in order to give you more weapon variation. I was playing with something along the lines of... -4 to damage when Unarmed (like you, replacing the -4 CS rule) -2 to damage when using Improvise...

I am interested in what you have come up with! Just rough strokes at the moment. Working from memory, I believe my range categories were: Personal (for up close and personal - wrestling, grappling, etc) Melee / Point Blank (for a mix of melee and point blank/pistol shots) Close (pretty much like yo...

This is *very* similar to what I've gone for. I just have a few more ranges to allow for more movement options and rates.

I'd personally go with damage modifiers to weapons rather than how robust they are if I were to bring in any rules for differentiating between weapons. So, out of interest, why did you go this way?

Off the cuff, If you wanted more detail you have a couple of high-level options: 1) Go with some kind a damage reduction for armour as a replacement to the bonus EPs way of working. If you went with this you'd need to look at offsetting it with damage bonuses to weapons. 2) Keep the EP bonuses of ar...
