RCEG has two kinds of drop capsule. The TL10 Mark 1 is for an individual trooper who must (unless extemely foolish) be in some form of battle dress. It is 0.5 displacement tons and can carry a max payload of 0.6 tonnes (including trooper in Battle Dress). It has two fixed rail missile launchers (poi...

Re: Solid Shot Anyone ?

Why do you like them? My personal leaning is that a rail gun, which I admittedly incorrectly refer to as a torpedo tube, could launch more than just solid shot projectiles. I see the possibilities for rescue transponders, scientific probes and other non-weapon related projectiles to employ the same...

What are of the greatest interest are small but military grade missiles. The sort of things issued to small ships in naval service during a war or sought on the black market. Better sensors, warheads and drives than the plain vanilla missiles normally available. Time to dig out some old books and h...

I was looking at my copies of Fire, Fusion and Stee l a few days ago after digging them out of the roofspace. The T4 version is horrible and the TNE one seems unusable but it has a lot of nice little notes on things such as synthetic arrays and terminal wound ballistics. A new version of this might...

If all you're interested in is the background and organisation of Imp Marines and Army then there is no reason you can't just use GURPS Ground Forces (if you endorse its view of the Imp Armed Forces as near-clones of the late-20thC US military that is). It isn't ruleset specific as far as I can tell...

Presumably in the description of the ortillery railgun on p49 the last sentence is actually meant to read.. "Each ton of ortillery railgun [ammo] contains two shots" ??? It is unclear, at best, how this weapon and the ortillery torpedo on the same page actually mesh with the already published rules ...

Fair enough.

I look forward to the design sequences that will mesh seamlessly with some of the equipment in MGT Mercenary, or the vehicles in the core rulebook.

Thoughts on future products for MGT

If Mongoose were clever, they would develop and properly beta test a starship/vehicle/equipment design system (a la FF&S), but keep it in-house, and then use it to generate a host of starships/vehicles/equipment (a la Fighting Ships or 101 Vehicles or Central Supply Catalogue), and then release supp...

Thought I was the only one this bothered. Yeah, I think the Ticket Generation System as written in MGT Merc is broken. It definitely needs a modifier chart to relate compensation to the size of unit required (and, if I was doing it, modifiers for the type of equipment the Mercs are expected to bring...

Laminated poster-sized graph paper. For outdoors I add my wargaming terrain. For indoors just draw the outlines in blue erasable ink. Use 15mm Laserburn figures plus a few Citadel Traveller minis when required for Aslan/Vargr/Droyne.

Agreed. The ticket system in MGT Mercenary seems geared to small units of mainly infantry (who might have one vehicle or heavy weapon). The profit margins are so miniscule that no sensible mercenary would risk losing a vehicle or other expensive piece of equipment (and certainly not a small craft or...

It's just a shame that the chargen ratcheted things up so much on the RPG side.......ah well. All is better, now, right ? (Continuing a fruitless quest to expose the flaw in this common complaint about Merc/High Guard/Scouts) Only a real issue if you ignored two fundamental tenents of Traveller cha...

I think the sensor rules are fine for a core rulebook that is essentially introductory in nature. But I would support Phil and Delerium's comments when applied to the two key military rulebooks Mongoose has/is putting out (i.e. Mercenary and High Guard). It is not excusable for those books to ignore...

Some of the miltech I had hoped to see in MGT: Mercenary... 1. Satellite/GPS guided munitions and counter-measures for them. Ubiquitous on today's battlefield, and a good reason to fight hard for control of close orbit! 2. Rods from God, i.e. deadfall ordnance from orbit travelling at hyper-velocity...

Presumably there would be very swift and very catastrophic consequences (even for a high tech force) if their protective vehicles/suits/etc were penetrated due to combat or non-combat damage. So a hit that might normally not be disastrous could be very serious indeed in such an environment.

Agree with EDG. The crux of my confusion arises from the presence of Option 3, and it seems to be in contradiction to Option 1. My basic question is, if I publish non-commercial material using out-of-print Traveller rules, must it be in Foreven or not?

Any hints about it?

Have just finished playing parts of the original adventure as a miniatures wargame with Striker (as per JTAS article).

Would be keen on further Chamax adventures.

Ignoring attempt to pretend that A/B/C/D is somehow materially different from 9/10/11 etc... Just to be quite clear...I'm not worried a bit if the book has tech levels, guidelines or not. Either is fine. What I do want to see is new stuff, new ideas and new things to populate the gaming terrain, not...
