[Freelance Traveller] November/December 2015 is up!

The November/December 2015 issue of Freelance Traveller is posted! This issue's featured article is the editor's own after-action report on TravellerCON/USA 2015 - admittedly, somewhat skimpier than he would have liked, but there are only so many spoons. The rest of the issue contains the usual ass...

Re: A New Edition of Traveller

There will be a big, long post on Planet Mongoose tomorrow about the whole design process and approach of the new Traveller that will cover this, but the short of it is that we have had several of the 3rd party publishers on board for the internal playtesting already, with the intention of putting ...

Attn msprange: Bits and Mortar - Missing Items

I recently sorted through some purchases at my FLGS, and made Bits-and-Mortar requests for some of the PDFs for what I had thought were eligible products. I do know that the products exist in ebook form, but B&M seems not to have gotten them. Can this be rectified? Supplement 13: Starport Encounters...

Re: [TravellerCON/USA] Touting the present, improving the fu

Once again, the fun sounding little con is on the East Coast. I envy that about the East Coast. Wish they would run something like TravellerCON/USA on the West Coast. Oh well, the price I pay for having the other benefits of living here. :D Well, if you've got sufficient spare change, you could com...

[TravellerCON/USA] Touting the present, improving the future

TravellerCon/USA 2015 is a mere two months away. Your Humble Editor is nominally responsible for some of the promotion thereof, though this spring he’s been somewhat remiss—real life does get in the way, sometimes. Nevertheless, it is happening, and we do want you to come. One obstacle to previous g...

Re: [Freelance Traveller] July issue ready for download!

I'm not getting any IP address now. So that means it's being looked at by someone. Probably someone is setting up the webserver again as if it's a new installed. Then it has to trickle to all the ISPs again for proper routing which takes about a day to happen. No, it's not the site - it's a DNS iss...

1. The New York Stock Exchange has halted trading since midmorning due to a computer problem of some sort. 2. United Airlines is grounded, because of a computer problem, and has been for several hours. 3. While it's back up now, The Wall Street Journal's website was offline for a while because of a...

Re: [Freelance Traveller] July issue ready for download!

Huh. I'm on Evil Corp, uh Comcast, maybe it's their big move to crush all other ISP's and see them driven before them. Maybe something weird is going on with the internet? I am not having issues with my site, and it's hosted in Los Angeles afaik. edit: Just used google to search for freelance trave...

Re: [Freelance Traveller] July issue ready for download!

Works fine for me, could it be a UK problem? That's what I suspected - a spoofed DNS somewhere key in the UK - and the Commissioner of Information doesn't prosecute it, either, according to Wikipedia - but I'm not sure that it's ONLY the UK that's affected (I wasn't sure that Shonner is in the UK; ...

Re: [Freelance Traveller] July issue ready for download!

[quote="AndrewW"]My own DNS server can't find it either... nslookup freelancetraveller.com Server: 192.168.1.1 Address: 192.168.1.1#53 That's your own ISP's DNS being hidden from you. My ISP does the same thing (although I don't get the failure to resolve; it resolves just fine for me). At the momen...

Re: [Freelance Traveller] July issue ready for download!

Your site is either 92.242.140.2 or it isn't. If it's intermittent, the fault is in the hard/soft config at the site location. Hopefully other customers that have their stuff hosted there are screaming to get the network back on the Internet. I did a look at that IP address. It has a history of bei...

Re: [Freelance Traveller] July issue ready for download!

Ok. It's just a router issue then with your hosting site's IT guys. Those things happen with small-ish cloud firms. Hopefully they'll figure out what configuration it needs to at least have HTTP and FTP working again. I can see a DNS block happening if a cloud cluster was virus driven. But such iss...

Re: [Freelance Traveller] July issue ready for download!

So why does all this only affect your site though? Check that your bandwidth and hosting fees are being paid. It doesn't affect only my site, and I pay in advance for an entire year, with no bandwidth limits. If Google were more forthcoming about how to fix the problem, it'd be fixed; I've been goi...
