While I understand the desire for knowing what is canon/OTU, I probably will never understand the intensity some people will push to have a product they are overly emotionally attached to be canon/OTU. It's not really that difficult to understand; it is simply an issue of THEIR image of the Canonic...

In Re Canon...
Since people have asked for it, here it is... (This is the original text, from August of 2003) Of late, there has been much verbiage expended on the topic of canon, and what should and shouldn't be. I think that some of the folks expending the verbiage are forgetting that which is of critical import...

As far as I'm concerned NNTP is dead - I don't think much of the current generation use it, and I sure found it awkward and annoying and unfriendly to use while it was around. I think SJG is the only RPG company that still uses NNTP, and even it has a separate web-based vbulletin forum now. But if ...

Re: VOTING PERIOD EXTENDED
Um, wouldn't it be better to post it all on one site than on five different forums? It'd save you a lot of reposting and you do have your own website (that you also have control over) that you can archive the results on after all. I guess this is a problem with the current Traveller community - the...

VOTING PERIOD EXTENDED
Although technically enough ballots were cast to give a result, fully 40% of the ballots cast were malformed, and did not follow the rules for voting. Because of this, we are extending the voting period for this contest by one week, to close at 23:59:59 EDT 2 AUG 2008. The entries were posted to the...

I don't have a problem with this, though I'm not sure why a PDF would be any easier to read than the postings in the forum. I'm not sure, however, that it will really be worth the effort, as you'd have to pull the PDF this coming Sunday, anyway, as the contest ends Saturday night midnite Eastern tim...

I'm seeing that a lot of the poll respondents haven't read the stories yet. Some of those respondents may want to find them and try reading them; the titles (so you can get paper editions from B&N or Amazon) are With the Lightnings Lt. Leary Commanding The Far Side of the Stars The Way to Glory Some...

Actually, the main tech issue is starships - and it's not all that far off what would be acceptable in Traveller - the real-space drive is a good match for TNE's HEPlaR drive, and this article at Freelance Traveller is just one idea for adapting aspects of the RCN interstellar drive to Traveller.

Another Possible Setting?
Inasmuch as Mongoose has already established a relationship with Mr Drake for Traveller izing his Hammer's Slammers series, might I suggest that they also explore the possibility of doing the same with the Republic of Cinnabar Navy/Daniel Leary series as well? When I first started reading this serie...
