You can find my take on Vilani names, with a very small set of examples, at http://www.freelancetraveller.com/featu ... names.html. Beyond that, take a random word generator for Vilani, generate a thousand or so words, and pick the ones that sound most like names.

Re: Traveller newbie thoughts
3. I do have a lot of adventure ideas, but is there any kid of "1001 Traveller Adventure Ideas" compiled online somewhere that I could crib from? That would be "760 Patrons". Or Active Measures and its subsection Getting Off The Ground at Freelance Traveller . Or similar sections of other Traveller...

Can a computer expert program run JAOT? My answer to this would depend on whether you're admitting true AI into your Traveller universe. Canon is unclear on this prior to TNE; my reading has been that you don't get true AI. Without true AI, I don't believe you can have programmatic JoAT; my take on...

In my experience, no clues are obvious enough in this medium. I can post wink-smileis 20feet high and some people will still think I'm serious or taking a pot shot at them. Or even think I'm being extra nasty and spiteful because of them. As a result I stoped (or minimised the use of) them. /wolf ....

Here we go again... :? I thought the purpous of this thread was to heartily and playfully ignore our differences and crack jokes about them. Not to start another one of countless debates on the subject. /wolf Well, yeah - I thought all of my superfluous pleonasmic verbosity, complete with Deliberat...

Re: In Re Canon...
Since people have asked for it, here it is... (This is the original text, from August of 2003) Of late, there has been much verbiage expended on the topic of canon, and what should and shouldn't be. I think that some of the folks expending the verbiage are forgetting that which is of critical impor...

Freelance Traveller Contest 2008-05: Handle With Care
The Challenge: Describe a hazardous cargo. Give details about the cargo and the nature of the hazard. Include any special precautions that should be taken in packing, handling, and/or stowing the cargo. Aslan make nice stand ins for Kzinhi, Chaanur(sp?), Samurais and enigmatic former Commanding Generals of parasitic aliens Chanur, and that was a clan name, not the race name - the race went by the name "Hani", after their governing council, the Han. Which leads to the thought of importing the Mahen...

I'd like to see books done along the same lines as the excellent DGP MegaTraveller modules: 1-Coreward races - Vargr & Vilani 2-Rimward Races - Aslan & Solomani 3-Spinward Races - K'Kree & Hivers 4-Trailward races - Zhodani & Darrian maybe something like that? more emphasis on roleplay and culture ...
