We're starting a homebrew campaign which uses lots of D&D 3.5 sourcebooks for various regions, and adventures as well. The focus will be on Freeport in the beginning, and the players have certain motives which might lead them to the broader world. Originally I was going to use D&D 3.5 as it was, the...

We use muskets and pistols in Clockwork and Chivalry, and they're fine. A musket is a powerful weapon with a short range, and pistols are very handy close combat weapons (with the sword and pistol combat style naturally). Said sourcebook contains stats for blackpowder weapons, and there was a very g...

Out of curiosity, have people been creating their favourite empires from history, fiction and RPG campaign worlds (not necessarily RQ ones?) using these rules? I thought it would be fun to share some of these? I intend to create a couple for my homebrew world which uses Freeport, and couple of other...

Simples, someone uses gadzillion bucks to make Elric the movie, and then you just release all the Elric material under RQII banner. Job done.

Now that we have Pete's ear (thanks for your response, by the way), can I ask you a couple things, please? Firstly, you indicated in that old post I dug up that the last two bullets in the charge rule only apply to horse/fly-by charges, right? What about the bullet point about defender's possible re...

Worth pointing out, as regards medicine and Clockwork & Chivalry compared to the medieval period, that Paracelsan healing was not around until the sixteenth century, but Galenic and Herbal would be pretty much unchanged right through the medieval period, as was belief in humours, miasmas and hellis...

I'd love to see something like this as well...

By the way, it would be interesting to use RQ Empires for managing the Crusader Kingdom and other principalities, and any holdings important for play? Especially if the players get involved in the politics and management side?

Clockwork and Chivalry does this type of 'medieval' healing (in the sense that modern medicine is still yet to be developed properly) in an interesting manner. It has three types of healing: Galenic, Herbal and Paracelsan. Galenic is the type tought in Universities, and has its root in medieval trad...

Maybe also mention that you need to be disengaged to charge? So you can't just dash from one melee into another with it?

Yes, you did. But it has to be said that the rules only support this, if you choose to disregard some of them. And now it looks like most of the charge rules refer to a very specific type of mounted charge, don't they? So I would say the rules are to blame for many people making this matter much to...

Being restricted to 1 CA in a round is for situations where the charger can do a ride by attack, i.e. you don't stop and therefor contact is inherently brief. If however you charge into contact with the express desire to remain embroiled, then don't use the rules mentioned in the final two bullet p...

Of course they don't, the SRs are for that. With my limited experience on RQII combat, I don't see why the rules can't work on the grid? The movement and charge are the only big an issue (assuming I have now worked out charge), because they have been poorly defined, to be honest. If you give a rule,...

Well, how about treating charge as regular CA which gives the attacker the increased damage bonus? Handle everything else as per regular rules? As to movement with charge or otherwise, you can walk 8 meters (normally) or sprint 8x5 meters minus armour penalty? You can do multiple charges in a round,...

I did a search on charge, and found this rather revealing post containing Pete's answers: The charging doesn't make any sense to me either. Okay, first off, there's an error on p90, bullet point 4. It should say "Evading the charge permits the recipient to make an Opposed Test of his Evade skill ver...

We don't use grids, but we do use miniatures to mark position. But movement tends to be more relative or vague, we don't use tape measures or anything. I wouldn't say the system isn't suited for tactical combat with grids or minis, it's just this charge that keep evading me. Once I got that sorted, ...

Heheh, I read the long combat example in the rulebook before going to bed, and noticed a couple of things that further muddy up the rule (unless this has been covered in some errata?) There one of the fighters, Thrace, has already used a CA to attack one of the trollkin, and successfully killed him ...

Whilst true it's hardly realisitic to expect a target, with say, 3 CAs, to just stand there not being able to do anything. That's why I'm looking to create new charge rules. My group just doesn't like that part of the game. It's not entirely realistic that is true, but I am sure the designer had a ...

Heheh I keep dogging at you heels.. anyways, I am just learning the ropes myself. Combat seems pretty complicated at first, there are a bunch of things to remember, all those maneuvres and actions, SR and and so on. What helped me was to use the combat cheat sheet which includes all the maneuvres (t...

Just proceed in the SR order, then rince and repeat until all CA have been spent. It's not really complicated, and furthermore it's pretty important to track who moves before who. What caused me some pause on my first read was when you use a CA for a parry or evade, do you lose your NEXT CA, or just...

And which actions would you allow for the defender in the case of multiple CAs? I assuming no movement, because then he could just move out of the way, and a grotesque chase would ensue? Well this is it. This is the question. A target with more CAs than the charger, seems to get a raw deal....
