Lots of surprising news today, must say I didn't see any of this coming, but then I am new here... Anyhow, as I am not interested in Glorantha, the news actually seem in a way welcome, as this will mean Deus Vult and other campaign materials might get new stuff. However, I can feel the pain of Glora...

I guess the best thanks I can offer to Pete is the assurance that I will continue playing with your creation for many years to come. 8)

All I can think of is Arms & Equipment book which contains a table for alternate armour materials? There are such materials as Dwarven Cinder, Elfen silk (obviously not a metal), steel (assuming iron is the more common basic material?) and 'wondrous metal'. The book conveniently avoids describing or...

I fully intend to use cults in my campaign which is based on various d20 sourcebooks. One of them is the Book of the Righteous which presents a balanced and interesting pantheon and mythology for my campaign. So I will re-create the various churches and and cults in there in RQ cult form. To me this...

I would rather drop the player than ruin a good system... :( If the player can't set aside his/her dislike of some rule, and as the result the whole system needs to be reworked or even abandoned altogether, then I'd say you have a problem player in your group? Ask the player, if his/her dislike of t...

Yes, obviously different large weapons behave differently, but I think it's better to have one rule that sorta, kinda works for everything, rather than lots of rules for each weapon? In the case of the long spear you could say, that the spearman would be able to attack with the shaft, staff-like, bu...

Maybe the point is not whether you parry or not, but whether you evade or parry, and hence you need to say it in advance? Which is why asked about evade rule a couple of posts back? Ie. can/must Evade be used in the same way as parry?

Hm, yes something like that would seem reasonable, as it would seem you can't swing at full force. Of course, you could use the pommel or diagonal short cuts with the blade etc. but nothing like a full swing. That would seem 'realistic' to me (using the slashes here as I have never swung a two hande...

Does it actually say you can't parry a weapon two sizes larger with a dagger? I thought you CAN parry, only it blocks no damage? So the way I read it, it might still be better than nothing, as if you get a great parry result, you might get a combat maneuvre, or at least prevent the opponent getting ...

Yes, about evade. The consensus seems to be that evade can be used instead or parry, pretty much interchangeably, except that with evade, the next CA can't be an attack. Yet some parts of the rules seem to indicate that evade can be used in close combat only in very limited circumstances, ie. if the...

Yeah, it's a bit odd turn of word to be sure. What is the significance of having to declare the parry, if you can cancel it afterwards anyways without any ill-effects (or otherwise)? Maybe the point is simply that you don't actually know the result of the attack roll when you reserve the right to pa...

I would think it's too much work to reroll initiative every round? But I am rather used to the idea of fixed initiative, unless circumstances change (we've played GURPS for one...) For us, it didn't take long to start saving the die roll. It comes naturally after a while, you just leave the dice sta...

Those are two separate cases, I think. The rule on p. 84 refers to a special case where you have your SR before the opponent, and instead of attacking choose to use your CA to adopt a defensive stance, thus saving the CA to parry the opponent's next attack (which occurs after your SR). If you don't ...

Well, without these other campaign worlds, I would probably never have picked up RQII rules. Glorantha just doesn't appeal to me, and I have tried it in the AH 3rd edition form too. I don't suppose I am alone in this?

At least in RQII Arms and Equipment and C&C musket damage is the same, ie. 2d8+1. Personally, I also rule that firearms can choose Impale damage as CM. Increases the chance of penetrating armour and/or turning the target into mush.

The problem is that if one guy has one of the higher forms of magic, he will be much more powerful than someone who has access to no magic at all. Of course, this is problematic only if the GM and the players think that all PCs should be equally powerful? Roleplaying is not just about maximum destr...

I am only reading the rules on RQII magic at the moment, so forgive my ignorance, but it seems most you think magic (and sorcery in general) is possibly too powerful? In regard of 'balance' with non-magic using characters, if I understand this correctly? The reason I find this topic interesting and ...

I thought we all worked this one out one page ago? For my money, the rule about the possible reactions of the defender to charge (attack or evade) do NOT apply to anything else than the cavalry/fly-by charge. So for foot charge I just apply the increased damage mode, and let both the attacker and de...
