So the minimum weight a rail gun round with a seeker head could be is just over half a ton? That seems kind of silly to me.

Re: When a Noble is a Paladin

Back in the LBB days, my dad actually did more or less the opposite, and ran a scenario where his Traveller group stumbled on his fantasy world. What little I've heard indicates that the Traveller group had a fun time trying to sort out how to deal with working magic and such until they accomplishe...

Re: Highguard 2.0 - Railgun Barbette

It occurs to me that maybe the answer to long range accuracy isn't in making a faster bullet. But allowing the bullet to track its target. by adding a relatively small set of grav plates and a compact capacitor to the ammo, you could allow it to make lateral adjustments to its flight path. put a re...

Re: Traveller 5: Starships and Spacecraft 1

Has anyone bought this? Is it any good and by that I mean is it usable as deck plans for ships using Mongoose Traveller rules? If you go to the entry on Drive Through you will see a "sample" page that reflects what is in the product. Gives you a good idea of what is in there. It also lists the plan...

Re: Collection of Free Trader variants

I'm working on a collection of Free Trader variants (to be put out through TAS as soon as I solve for cover art). Right now I have deckplans for each variant, the construction data, and a 'datacard' area that is intended to summarize the information you'd want during play (for example, range and da...

Sometimes real life can really use up all of our time. Family, work, health, and/or school can all overrun our hobby time.

I hope things mellow out for you. :-)

Re: Anyone played the Ancient Trails adventures

So I take this to mean the answer to my question in NO. I downloaded the first two, they are free at RPGNow. They seem quite interesting and I think would make some good play. Re: The Aging Table: Why are We Scared of It?

The problem with finding a solution to the aging roll is that it kicks out one of the underlying assumption in character generation; the price for accumulating above average resources and skills is weaker physical attributes. And thus why I would never allow someone to gain DMs for TL or SOC level ...

Re: When a Noble is a Paladin

As I've said, I'm all for trying this, and anything you and your players are interesting. But what you've just written brings up an interesting point - although in DnD it's easy to tell good from evil just by reading alignments, in Traveller and specifically in the case you cite... I'd say not so m...

Side note, if you want to see some interesting mixing of Fantasy feel with Sci-Fi setting there is a game called Fading Suns that has lots of that feel to it. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wCjQToMWsHY/Tnit9XcxsMI/AAAAAAAAAqM/a3z0ztDx4tw/s1600/Hwkwd.jpg http://sholarijames.com/fadingsuns/Pics/ImperialHer...

Re: When a Noble is a Paladin

A Traveller Paladin need not necessarily be an out of touch barbarian in plate mail, the weapons and equipment he uses isn't the important part of being a Paladin, you can easily substitute futuristic equivalents. Ok you are now changing the question. You asked about bringing a D&D Paladin to the T...

Re: Effect "0" In Combat

Which means you can't miss? So if you shoot in any random direction, you always do at least half damage? I do not think that is what he means. The rules on page 74 of the core rule book clearly state that you calculate the effect and add it to a "successful attack". So you could miss and never need...

Re: When a Noble is a Paladin

As I was sitting here at work doing some mindless repetitive tasks I was thinking about Tom's idea. Some poor D&Dish Paladin is fighting a horde of demons, he is the last man standing and about to go down himself. His god pulls him from his reality and sends him to a small planet in the Traveller se...

Re: When a Noble is a Paladin

Suppose we translated a D&D paladin's abilities into Traveller terms. Forget about level advancement for a moment. Suppose this Paladin appeared in the Traveller setting, and he has some ability to lay on hands and heal people, lets say its a 3rd level paladin for argument's sake, Those abilities a...
