Re: Nomad Planets

I like the idea of a Nomad Planet as part of a particular adventure but I don't think I would add them on a regular basis.

Re: [Sell Me] What will I enjoy about MGT2e?

Well there we go, that's encouraging. I've also used non Traveller systems to run Traveller; Star Wars Saga edition and Spacemaster Privateers. And like I said, there are bits of each Traveller edition I'm not happy with. Now that I have kids I have less time to be fiddling with things, as enjoyabl...

Re: 3d Subsector

Ok, I admit I think the attempt to do a 3D map is real cool. But I also never had the desire to put that much work into a game map that the players didn't care about.

I am having fun watching your efforts though. Thanks for showing them to us.

Re: Effect "0" In Combat

It really does't slow down combat much at all. I agree, it would not slow things much, but it does ad one more extra exception to the pile and I try real hard to avoid too many fiddly exceptions that do not really have a real impact on the fun of the game. So for me, while I don't see a major issue...

Re: The Traveller Release Schedule

While I would love to see great detailed pictures, I would try to preserve the idea that not every ship of a class is 100% the same. Not every scout ship has the exact same layout or even same chairs in the lounge. I have always liked the idea of each Scout or Merchant placing their "stamp" on their...

Re: Fuel Bladders

An author's work, in other words, does not have to be realistic, only believable and internally consistent (even the last requirement can be relieved to some extent). When the author pushes an audience beyond what they're willing to accept, the work fails in the eyes of that particular audience. As...

Don't let this stop you. I find that in cases like this, if you take the first step then others are willing to help you. You draw a rough draft of what you want first. Post it. :D

Re: Transparent Aluminum: AKA synthetic sapphire

An even bigger advance would be using the synthetic sapphire/ruby for Holographic data storage. a storage media that is almost indestructible by environmental factors, EMP resistant, and will not degrade with use or time. Now that is a great idea. I like it a lot. :D "Data Crystals" have always bee...

The funny thing is, I see the boast of hard science more from the fans than from the game designers. Then those same fans spend tons of effort to prove the game has item X wrong.

My wife loves real sapphires. I think she would get a kick out of the idea of spaceships made out of sapphires. :-)

Re: Needing some input on a new project

The cockpit looks appropriate for a 1 or 2 person craft, but not a 100 tonner. I had the same thought. If the cockpit looking element was shrunk down then the body to cockpit ratio would make it look more like a 100 ton craft rather than the heavy fighter that it looks like right now. But it does l...
