Re: Ship Crew - sensor operators

That's an excellent point and a good distinct ctuon between militry and civilian ship designs. Smaller military ships, say 400 tons or under, may also follow civilian design s and leave out central fire control because space is at such a premium in small ships. But larger shils would have that. For...

Re: Traveler miniature game

While an ACTA version might be good, I am glad to see a ground warfare game as well. I miss playing Striker back in the day. :D

Re: Traveller Timeline

I've noticed that everything Mongoose produces is set in 1105. One of the things I loved about Traveller was the dynamic feel as things happened in the setting. Are there any plans to address events as they occur? For example, adventures/supplements to deal with the 5th Frontier War? I've gone back...

Re: Traveller 1.0 To 2.0 Skills Conversion Chart

I could see giving two levels of Vaccsuit for the Battledress. That goes back to the CT books if I recall where Battledress-1 or Vaccsuit-2 were required to use battledress armor. Yes, makes sense. I will admit the removal of Battledress from the skill list was one of the few removals I disliked. I...

Re: TAS Product: Sandpiper Light Transport

I created it for the "other than standard" business model. To be honest, I am interested in the Rescue/Medical response version. I am really thinking of running a game with the characters as crew for a medical response type role. In that kind of role, I imagine the cargo to be less about trade and ...

Re: Traveller 1.0 To 2.0 Skills Conversion Chart

Good list. I think there needs to be some consideration for a 1st ed character that has ranks in skills that are consolidated in 2nd ed, as I mentioned in the other thread. Example: 1st ed character has Gun Combat (slug rifle) 2 and Gun Combat (slug pistol) 1. What does the 2nd ed character get? Gu...

Re: Ship Crew - sensor operators

I have always assumed civilian ships like a Free Trader that adds a turret as an afterthought .... Except are they an "afterthought"? Don't you have to build in the hard point when the ship is built? Then couldn't the space to carry the right wires already be in place as well? I worked in a buildin...

... the Traveller Companion that is hinted at in the core book? ..... It's the next book I'm super excited about (after the Vehile Handbook ). I agree with this thought. I too am excited thinking about what treasures might be found in such a book. Options and ideas that have just been hinted at alo...

Re: Medic Skill Question

I figured that this is where Science specialities come in. Each Science speciality can cover a field of medicine - for instance Science (anatomy), Science (physiology), Science (pathology) could cover the basics of medicine, with Science (xenoanatomy), Science (xenophysiology), Science (xenopatholo...

Re: Medic Skill Question

How about just adding a XenoMedic skill to cover all other races not ubiquitous to the characters setting or that have a different biology. I would treat it as a Jack-Of-Trades skill only applying to Medic. I would apply a -DM to Medic skill to operate on other races with each level of XenoMedic ad...

Medic Skill Question

In 2e there was a clear attempt to lower the number of specialties (Science excluded) in skills. But I have been thinking of adding in a specialty for Medic. What I am thinking is medic should be different for the various species of Aliens. I imagine what it takes to be a medic for a hiver would be ...

Re: An OGL Setting for Legend?

I'm thinking that if I ever do something like Arms of Legend 2 , and focused on magic and mundane items, I'd put med tech first and foremost, food after that, musical instruments next, clothing and cosmetics next, the equivalent of multigyms next (ways to buff up your characteristics and save your ...

... also I hate it when the first thing people do is turn straight to the combat and battle rules. That's the one thing about roleplaying games that makes me swear. Ok, sorry to make you unhappy. I will change my example to: "When I can drive my Grav-Limo faster than your knight can gallop." or "Wh...

I'm pretty sure none of us on board can talk to our experience with deep-space mil-spec electronics and targeting. I could. Oh wait, you mean in real life and not in game? On a more serious note: snrdg121408 we all offer our opinions and in some cases try to draw parallels to what we know fro...
