That is a great shot. It does have a feel of an exotic locale.

Re: The Aging Table: Why are We Scared of It?

So to be clear, I do not believe the TL in and of itself should increase the expected life span of someone or change the aging table. There are so many other factors that would need to be taken into account, I believe the aging table, as it is now, is a good enough abstraction for our use. :D I dis...

Re: The Aging Table: Why are We Scared of It?

Well, yeah. If no one can take advantage of it's benefits, is the system really at that TL? Yes, this is true, but I am not assuming "no one" nor am I assuming "everyone". Rather I am assuming that except for a few utopian systems, the availability of both high TL medical as well as other high TL i...

Re: TAS Product: Sandpiper Light Transport

Any feedback is also very welcome. The summary grid for both the Kenstrel & the Dove (Page 7 & 11) give cargo as "tons". But based on the summary grid given for the William Byrd (Page 2) I suspect you meant to return and fill in the correct number of tons in those slots. I would list the standard c...

Re: The Aging Table: Why are We Scared of It?

Better sanitation and a cleaner water supply as well as better nutrition and more effective medical treatment and prevention will and does increase average lifespan. This is true. Therefore, humans living in higher tect societies should live - on average - longer. Traveller ignores the effect of TL...

Look at it this way, yours will have that "new printed book" smell longer and that clean new book look long after ours have gotten scuffed from taking it in the car etc.

Re: Referee's Briefing 4: Mercenary Forces

Question: Page 13, the Fire Team Org Chart. Should the Support Squad be tucked under the command squad the way the Rifle Squads are tucked under their command squad? Page 16; Technical Team. The last line seems to be a spelling error and maybe should be technician? Either way I think "Technicia" jus...

Re: The Aging Table: Why are We Scared of It?

Regardless - even the poorest of people in our TL8 societies live longer than people in TL1 societies. Basic sanitation and better nutrition does a lot for the average lifespan and quality of life. Are you sure? I think there are people in Sudan who might disagree with you or folks in many other th...

This is a good point. I think of the movie Elysium where they clearly had majorly high tech medical abilities, but they restricted the access to a very small section of their population.

Re: The Aging Table: Why are We Scared of It?

At the age of 46 (term 7) the per term loss works out at just over 1.5 so I suggest that's the point where it is probably no longer effective to remain in your career. I'm fine with this really. So if I understand your point, you feel the fear exceeds the reality of the rolls? If I got your point r...

Vacc suit seems to mean both operations in zero gee, and operating a powered suit, which seems an activity more vehicular, than extravehicular. I have come to accept, that for Mongoose, Vacc Suit is a catch all skill that includes anything and everything to do with suits of any kind, powered or not...

Re: Traveler miniature game

Oh you are quite right, there is nothing wrong with variety in war gaming. I'm just biased to ship to ship space combat. The last ship to ship game I bought into was Firestorm Armada. Ended up with two painted fleets and no one who wanted to play. :( Firestorm was a flash in the pan in my area. Sev...
