Interestingly, if you go through those formulas and do the unit conversion from Meters and Seconds to Astronomical Units (AU) and Gravities (Gs) and Days of time you get: T = 2 * sqrt (D/A) Where: T is the time in DAYS D is the distance in AU A is the acceleration in Gravities It isn't exact, but i...

Also note that a matter/antimatter interaction is automatically 100% efficient at converting mass to energy - any loss is going to be from mass (of either polarity) on the 'outside' of the interaction being 'blown away' from the kernal of the explosion. IIRC, the theoretical maximum is about 50%; t...

Joss Whedon has said he was a gamer (isn't there a Buffy episode where they are all playing D&D) and he said he played an SF one at college which in part inspired Firefly. We would have heard by now if he had admitted it was CT so this is all supposition really. You can also see the similarity in h...

Law Level isn't number of laws, it's the invasiveness of law enforcement. In fact, you might have a world with very few laws that are zealously enforced - I'd still rate that a high Law Level. (Littering and Impoliteness are capital offenses, robotically enforced. But outside of that, anything goes...

Sounds fine to me !

On the off chance it ever goes commercial, just talk to me first -plus, it's a steal from Robert E Howard, to some extent, so be warned.

The most mobility an Imperial Fleet sees outside battel is a short trip within the depot Don't know about that. Keep your fleet constantly docked and exact location nkown is just asking for someone to ambush it. Just ask Nimitz or the Italians... Point of geekiness. Kimmel was CINCPAC during the Pe...

Now that we have been enlightened about world generation, trade, economics and properly citing sources ... How is a TL 10 world different from a TL 13 world? How is a TL 13 world different from a TL 15 world? well, one difference that a TL 10 planet will have from a TL 13 is that for home produced ...

I have to disagree here.... I feel its a Traveller rule problem. actually, as suggested here and with others, its a too many Traveller rules problem. <snip> Earth at D86797x gives a possible tech range of 3-8, whereas an airless rockball with a settlement of 15, at D00016x gets a range of 5-10 if i...

It works fine for me, but then again, I know it will break if used as an unsupervised algorithm or as the basis of much above the player level.

Glad it helps, though !

@aspqrz Yes, I agree. And sometimes not stupid low tech can mean making it at home or doing without - lots of local nationalist movements promote that now, so its fairly easy to imagine in the future. It works a bit for protypes, pre tech versions, too. This is specifically used when reverse engineering a known design -not actual R&D. For this, calculate and allocate the base points as above, but multiply cost and size, and divide performance. Also, at prototype levels, fluff isn;t an issue. So, ...
