Y More importantly, yes, I'm in favor of less skills, not more. Still, MT and later seemed to have way too much granularity on the guns side and way less so on the social side; so as long as we don't go back there , folding together a few would be fine. Still, too rough a granularity and we're back...
As I have said before, there is a difference between Traveller the rules-set (which should try to accomodate all sci-fi backgrounds), and Traveller the setting , which is it's own beast.
And yes, you have said that, and quite eloquently. Unfortunately, I (politely) disagree. The fla...

More general comments: Have high hopes that this ruleset will significantly update technology rather than be yet another edition of Space 1977. However what about standard topoi of modern (post-1977) SF like cybernetic or geneered enhancements (why should anyone in a TL-15 society start adult life ...

Yeah. Vacc-1 the skill for vacc suit, which we use in a vacuume. Still. Vacc seems a more natural contraction - unlike comms ? Ah whatever. More importantly, yes, I'm in favor of less skills, not more. Still, MT and later seemed to have way too much granularity on the guns side and way less so on th...

Some thoughts on star system generation.

I know that this isn't part of the current doc, but I'd like to take the liberty of presenting some conceptual ideas about an element that has been quite problematic to traveller: star systems. Science advances. Those new torch orbit gas giants are weird, unexpected, and hard to model. Stellar type ...

I have to agree about the table. It was a lot of work, and a very nice presentation, but waaaaaay too fine grained; plus, it pretty much is conceptually pretty much Megatraveller ; this is not per se bad, but what I see in these rules is an attempt to extend CT by increasing description without over...

My one major gripe with character generation is that all promotion leads to a commision -- there are no career NCOs. I noticed that, too. There are still some of us who prefer to "work for a living"...right? :) Eris Go tell the airforce: the officers fly off to fight, leaving the enlisted at home.....

To be honest, at least in the US airforce and army, the policy is up or out. if you don't qualify for a promotion, you are very likely to get riffrd (reduction in forces). AND certainly amongst fighter pilots, promotion is a mixed blessing - there are lots of officers available when the budget needs...
