Retro-Rockets Red Glare:rationalizations part.
Space is the battlefield of the cold war where Nukes are allowed. What happened ? A real atomic war happened. Sometime around 1950, with both sides tossing nasty little fission nukes and invading western Europe, China, the Mideast and etc. In this timeline, in 1945, soviet forces captured SS Scient...

Retro-Rockets Red Glare. A cold war solar system ATU
I thought I'd open this up over here for comment. Now that I've basically completed Adventurer, I'm trying some smaller projects: you know, whole setting books. Likely will be developed for MGT, but right now, its all very system neutral. 1984: Red Stars and Rockets* A retro-gritty setting for Trave...

An apology......
I'd like to interrupt the normal discussion of traveller to make an apology to the board, and to those members of SFRPG/SPICA who got offended by my posts on the (thankfully) deleted thread. atpollard, Dave chase, and whoever else I laid into on what was just intended to be a request for contact wit...

Yeah, thus my comment on MTU. Actually, I'm not sure if Classic Traveller has one explicitly - I think it may be finessed by the lower limit on ships allowed in hyperspace (100dt). (I'd be curious to hear otherwise, tho) Mongoose Traveller also has the rule that only a craft of 100+ dtons can have ...

I was thinking in terms of my traveller universe, which doesn't have Jump Torps/drones. In MGT I've never seen a prohibition on drone starships. Yeah, thus my comment on MTU. Actually, I'm not sure if Classic Traveller has one explicitly - I think it may be finessed by the lower limit on ships allo...

I think we all meant long range FTL drones, rather than STL. Would be faster than your mass sensor, thanks to FTL travel (even with travellers relative slowness) Yep, plus one would get far more precise astrographical and planetologi- cal data. And remember, the sensor data from an object 1+ parsec...

You know, it's nice to see everyone agreeing for once :P Isn't it though ? Long range STL drones would be one way, but I think the best way would be to use lots of the drones (with high tech sensor arrays) deployed way out in a nearby system to create a Very Large Array with a baseline across the e...

Re: Build your star ships on High tech worlds, save big?
From HG: "There is a 5% price discount per TL for older technology devices if bought new at the source, to a maximum of –30%. ... For example, a character buying a new TL8 engine at a TL10 world gets a 10% discount." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- J-2 d...

That's interesting.... the RPGrealms site was orginally offering PDFs of the Judges Guild Gateway Sector materials... and now they're gone. The remainder seem to all be physical books, which is legal of course. PDFs of lapsed-license materials, as I understood it, were not legal for sale. Looks lik...

Yep, obviously, or do you really think we users of this forum would have such a discussion without a good reason ? Its probably really important right now that I not answer that question.... Ah, well, some days the fish bite, some days they don't ... Really ? Hmmmm. Why don't yo...

I'm pretty sure the Judges' Guild materials are PDF. Well, his email on the boards [http://www.rpgrealms.com/community/blogs/141] there said he had found a bunch and was selling them at cover price, so I assumed that he was talking hardcopy. Actually looking at them [http://www.rpgrealms.com/catalo...

Re: RPG Realms has old Traveller Stuff for Sale
RPG Realms has some old Judgest Guild Sectors and some TNE:1248 stuff they are selling. I don't know the legalities of this, since I thought Mongoose and FFE were the only legal licenses right now (well GURPS too). Matt, is this site legal or should we ignore/report it? I thought that I'd answer th...

I have downloaded the Adventurer Beta (I think for a second time). Maybe I'll see about printing a copy (I can go to Staples and get it bound up) and either email my RPG group, since it's been dormant a while, or take it to my LGS and see if there's interest. But I dunno if it'll go anywhere... I'd...

I wanted to test your Adventurer system with our latest fantasy campaign, a pseudo-medieval story about rebels in the swamps ("Down with the evil usurper !"), but when the players heard "Traveller", they also rebelled and strictly refused to give it a try, so we ended up with our usual modified Cal...
