Re: ** MONGOOSE INFANTRY SEEKS VOLUNTEERS **

I would like to do this, as I demo Traveller and Paranoia at RPG shows in the UK whenever I can. Sadly, as I don't have a local games store interested in demos for anything other than CCGs I'll have to pass.

Re: Speculative Trade Modifiers

Thanks Elrick, That is what I assumed when I first looked at it. But the process description is pretty clear that you use both DM's for buying (Determine Purchase Price p163) and selling (Determine Sale price p164). Also examples of different actions omit to mention modifiers when they are zero, he...

Re: Speculative Trade Modifiers

You only use the purchase DM when you are buying the goods and the sale DM when you are selling the goods. The core rulebook has a couple of examples (page 164) which show this in action.

Hope this helps.

Here's a free ebook (in a variety of formats) by Stephen Hunt which might give you some ideas for your campaign: http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/207324/

Re: Types of campaigns

When I've run trader missions most of the adventures have happened in the week stopover between the old passengers/cargo being unloaded and the new passengers/cargo being loaded. The passengers and cargo are more a 'hook' to get the players to move between systems, although passengers are also a goo...

Re: Modern Equivalent?

I always imagined them as similar to the Clyde Puffers that used to trade up and down the West coast of Scotland. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clyde_puffer and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22UGjkSKYbk

Some were privately owned, but most were part-owned by small companies.

Re: Traveller Writers Wanted!

Also, will consider 2300AD articles. However, on these, try to keep them fairly 'general' for any campaign. be aware that we are still detailing the universe, so stay away from super-detailing colonies and planets, but new equipment, adventures, and the like would be just fine! Matt, I'm creating a...

Re: Can This Be Run More at Conventions?

I run Traveller at several conventions in the UK - mostly 3rd Imperium, although I have run HALO in the past and I'm running a 2300AD game at Continuum in July. Origins is just a bit far for me though... Which conventions? How far away are they from Northumberland? I used to travel all over for sho...

Re: [2300AD] Missing nation in the book..

Challenge magazine 42 had an article about Italy in 2300AD written by Mark Galeotti. That's for the GDW version of the game, but there shouldn't be a lot of system-specific rules in it. You can buy a copy at DrivethruRPG: http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product_info.php?products_id=87212&filters=0_0_4...

Re: New Traveller has Questions

Setting -- The main rulebooks has very little setting of GM info. Is there a "Referee Guide" of some sort? I'd like some more info about the 3rd Imperium. I read online that there is no FTL communication, is this true? (I hope so: I love this idea and use it in my homebrewed SF games). If it is tru...

Grav Ball was a boardgame. See: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/5876/grav-ball

In the files area on that page is a reworking of the rules from the game. I've not looked at it, but you might be able to get some ideas from that.

Re: Free Epic Campaign - The Pirates of Drinax

I've always ruled that you can enter jump at any speed and exit it at the same speed. However, although space is big and empty, there is the outside chance you could exit jump space close to a micrometeorite or some other object or debris. Your jump program couldn't know it was there and your sensor...

Re: Campaigns you've run?

Yeah, my plan is to present, say, two or three campaign ideas for Trav, and start the discussion from there. I've thought about the Naval campaign one and that has great appeal, actually (I was thinking of even doing a Mass Effect-esque game with High Guard, except mostly ship/station based...that'...

Re: New traveller need party...( Please )

They don't appear to be running Traveller at the moment, but you could always try the Phoenix Games Club (http://www.phoenixgamesclub.org.uk/). They meet every Thursday at a pub in Plaistow, which isn't all that far from you. I know at least two members of the club do play Traveller, so you may find...

Re: Campaigns you've run?

If you want a linked campaign that isn't free-trader based, you could try Secrets of the Ancients: http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/rpgs/traveller/adventures-and-campaigns/campaign-1-secrets-of-the-ancients.html A lot depends on what you & your players want. With Mercenary you could run a merc-styl...

I used Traveler for HALO a couple of years ago. I used the animal rules to create the various Covenant races (after all, their basic function is to get shot or blown up).

Re: CT Question: High Guard ship design

There were two editions of High Guard. One printed in 1978 and the second in 1980. The second one fixed a load of things with ship building and the changes were published in JTAS too. I can't remember what was wrong with the first edition, but I can dig out the old JTAS issues if it's important. I u...
