Time required to play scenarios

Hi, How long should it take to run a scenario? Obviously a patrol scenario will take more time than a raid scenario. Any rough ideas welcome - we're finding it difficult to finish a battle-level scenario, "Convoy Duty" from p56 of the core rules within a couple of hours. Are we doing something wrong...

Writing scenarios

Hi, A friend of mine and I are hoping to find time to :- 1) create interesting characters 2) generate background material 3) write (initially small scale) scenarios/episodes 4) knit the scenarios together into a chronicle/series I've got some Writer's Digest books I'm studying, including 1) Plot 2) ...

If anyone was thinking of coming up with ship statistics, take a good look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_types ... Culture%29

Hi,

I'd like to see a book of B5 ACTA campaigns - the usual suspects including Dilgar War, EA - Minbari war, the Shadow war and the Drakh (?) plague.

I'd like to have an appendix at the back of the book so we can create our own ship counters.

B5 RPG - Alien character & ship names

Hi, I'm preparing to run a Martian Independence campaign later on this year. At the moment I'm reading "Dynamic Characters" by Nancy Kress and I've reached a dead-end. I haven't a clue what to call player characters or non-player characters. Some lists of character names for, say Narn, Centauri or M...

Counter sheets (card substitutes for miniatures)

Hi, The writing on the counter sheets is unreadable. I'm splitting up the counters and putting them in small plastic wallets. And the counters aren't marked with the name of the race the ships belong to. Despite their faults, me and my friends have found them to be very useful. So does anyone know w...

I ran an AD&D 2nd Edition game (World of Greyhawk) with a little bit of Ravenloft thrown in for about 10 years on and off. I've spent a lot of time not GMing and it is my New Year's reservation to run a B5 ACTA game - but while not throwing things out, still quite determined to do things differently...

Stealth. How does it work?

Hi, Last night we were playing Convoy Duty (Me, Minbarri, Defending) and Earth Alliance (Richard B, Earth Alliance, attacking). I had ships with "stealth" and here's how we ran the scenario... When attacking a ship that has Stealth 6, the attacker has to roll a 6 to establish a weapons lock. No prob...

Iain M Banks - "The Culture"

Hi,

Remember Iain M Banks' novels about "The Culture", a huge advanced culture? Novels like "Excession" or "The Player of Games"?

I'd be interested in either a RPG based on it or, perhaps, a Babytlon 5 "A Call To Arms" source book for it.

Ideas?

Earth-Centauri War - Jan 26-27th

Hi,

For those in the provinces (Northumberland) and can't make it to the actual event... would you consider making the scenario/campaign details available for download on your website after you've run the event?

TIA

Comparing fleet box sets with each other and blister packs

Hi, I sometimes teach people with mental health problems how to use computers. So, when I wanted to get answers for questions like:- Are blister packs cheaper than box sets? Are all box sets created equal? If not, how strong are the different box sets? So I got cracking with OpenOffice Calc and came...

What Articles Would you RPG'ers like to see?

Hi,

I haven't run a RPG for years and would like to get back into the swing of things.

I would like to see an article in S&P that is a basic introduction to running B5 RPG sessions.

TIA

To answer my own question, take a look at http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/pdf/sp49war.pdf on page 14 for a discussion of the first scenario (Ambush at Beta 3) and the others.

Tips wanted : B5 ACTA, pages 22-23, "Ambush at Beta 3&q

Hi, I played out the "Ambush at Beta 3" scenario with a friend. And won (playing as the Centauri). I would like to know:- what kind of tactics can the EA vessels use to win this scenario? TIA, Ian Here's how my battle played itself out.... An Earth Alliance Hyperion-class cruiser (Hermes) wandered i...

Shipbuilding in Campaigns

Hi, Given a big campaign (where governments go to war etc), new ships are constructed to try and gain advantages over opposing goverment's fleets. I've got the ACTA rule book and fleet list book. They're good but I'd like to take things further and use the B5 RPG's book, the "Ship Builder's Manual" ...

I like the idea of putting "one-shot" material (specifically adventures) onto a CD as PDF files. How about pushing it a bit further and including material that is posted by players on the internet? I'm going to have my first game of B5 ACTA this week. I'm hoping to keep playing while getting up to s...
