Re: Ship software Intellect
The ship version allows voice command for all attached systems, where the personal computer version allows independent skill use only on that particular computer. ( Highguard has further virtual crew software that allows for multiple ships systems to run independent of the crew.) By 'all attached s...

Ship software Intellect
The table of ship software (CRB p.151) lists Intellect as a bandwidth 10 package. I am not entirely sure what the benefit of this is. Is it that a Traveller doesn't need to be interfacing with a terminal in order to get the ship to run software -- they can just shout out 'Computer, initiate fire con...

Re: So, what's with the supplements?
Warts and all, they've produced a really fine version of Traveller. For me, it feels a lot like Classic Traveller (which I played for years and years) but better. Ditto to this from me, with the exception that I only ever ran a few games of Classic Traveller. While I sympathise with the frustration...

Thanks for the overview of Shadows of Sindal, Matthew. You've sold it to me.
It's very helpful in dropping in some seeds over the next few sessions.
Dan.

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread
Has anyone run Revolution on Acrid, The Cordan Conflict or Liberty Port? I love the premise of them all (helping a faction gain control of the planet), as it is exactly the sort of thing the pirates are supposed to be doing, but I confess I am hesitant to use them. The 'quests' they present are wide...

Re: So...about State of the Mongoose 2017...
Shadows of Sindal is written and edited, and will be going into layout right after the Traveller Companion, along with the Drinaxian Companion. Any chance of some glimpses into Shadows of Sindal -- even if just the back cover blurb? And, as I understand it, the Drinaxian Companion will be a compila...

Re: Aslan, Samurai and other allegories
And if so, what other allegories/parallels have you found between the Traveller universe and our real world? I don't know the Traveller universe well enough, but the Sword Worlds strike me as being inspired by the Vikings, and early illustrations of the Zhodani look like they were modelled on some ...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread
There might also be some interesting missives to a certain Admiral residing on Theev. That was one idea I had, but without it being definitive proof that the admiral was in cahoots with the Imperium. I thought something implicating the Duke of Tobia (there are rumours the duke is illegally invested...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread
SPOILER ALERT: while the subject of this thread is 'GMs thread', so good, decent and upstanding players should not be reading this, nevertheless the following question -- and hopefully lots of answers -- contain info for GMs' eyes only. In Treasure Ship, the vault of Martin II contains mail drums of...

Re: The players' covenant
In your game, have you run into any difficulties with a reroll? How did you handle it? How did the players (especially the one rerolling) handle it? This hasn't come up in my game yet, but it has in other games I have played in (other rpgs, not Traveller), and I do have two new players about to joi...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread
Seems like this is a case of the first-edition content not being consistently updated -- the first-edition Harrier from memory had port and starboard forward-facing turrets. Another example is that the Harrier supplement references locations onboard the ship (e.g. computer room) that appeared on the...

Re: Pirates of Drinax - GMs thread
Another key problem was that while fast, the Ghost can't return fire (when fleeing) with its forward-mounted particle accelerator. I think the players intend to amend this, putting the gun on a barbette so it can deliver its nasty bite whether attacking or retreating. Wait a sec. Have I missed some...

Re: High and Dry: 567-908
Has anyone else noticed this and/or incorporated some of the elements of the CT adventure? I did notice this, but only after I had already run High and Dry :) The way I read it, the stopover on 567-908 is written in to perhaps lure the players into a false sense of security, so that upon arrival at...

based on either A US Version of 1 of The Krays or A UK Version of Capone I'm basing one of the evil dictators in my campaign on either a German version of Stalin or a Russian version of Hitler  :) I can't possibly answer your questions, but I do find reading them strangely fascinating! Dan.

Re: Sensors Vs Superior Stealth
I'm still inclined to give a bonus to sensors checks at short range. If the targetting systems on weapons are affected by range, then to my (admittedly completed unqualified) mind it seems like sensor checks ought to be. But even just from a game balance point of view, given the advantages that are ...

Re: Drinax Treasure Ship questions (spoilers)
Assuming, as the adventure writer says, that a marine walking to the top decks in battle dress is the very definition of drawing attention to oneself, then Salvedes would wait to put his battle dress on until immediately before storming the bridge, and not before seeking out Laffitt. My reading of t...

Re: Questions on starship hull points
It is unlikely the ship would have systems left as each hit above 10% of starting hull is a crit due to sustained damage. Actually, it's still pretty likely that it will have most systems functioning. The ship will have suffered eight severity-1 critical hits. Given the 2D6 distribution of the crit...
