Well, before you lambast MGT for making low travel so lethal, remember that this is taken out of CT. With CT, the base roll to survive low travel is 5+. And failing doesn't mean you got hurt; it meant you were dead. So, while I completely agree such odds are stupid for a system that is that wide of ...

To extend the discussion, I remember reading an article about the possibility of a total water world (I forget the actual term). The idea of such a world is that there is no ocean floor. It is just water all the way down until the pressure turns it into whatever unimaginable pressure would turn wate...

The Traveller Book.

I had already dabbled in Traveller through some friends, but I loved the presentation in TTB, and bought it for myself.

BTW, the Keith art on the front cover was what initially caught my eye for the book.

Oh, two more requests:

1) Damage rules that don't make a ship lose 90% of its crew with each crew hit.

2) Ability to group fighters into batteries (or whatever the new High Guard comes up with) for at least defensive purposes.

Andor is right. It was misprinted on a map and later copied onto others but it's wrong. Technically, at the time Supp 3 was produced Andor and Candory were not Droyne worlds, they were just red zoned for unknown reasons. The droyne thing was added later. Just for the record, it should be "Andor", n...

The UWPs are primarily from Supplement 3, with a few updated to the SMC. Hmm. The SMC is where the "phantom system" first appeared, not to be explained until well into TNE... Can someone remind me which is the "phantom system"? I know which is the "line dup system", which is the "disappearing syste...

Re: High Guard: Expectations?

I fully agree with the main sentiment of your post, but don't agree that HG Bk5 was particularly flawed. It's starship design system was a far superior evolution from Book2, and it's designs were fully compatible with the Book2 combat system with the only exception being the larger military weapon ...

Martin did a wonderful job with it. Too bad the rest of us can't say the same thing because we have not seen it yet. Fair enough. :) I admit that I was fortunate enough to get an early glimpse. My point, though, is that no matter what minor quibbles I bring up, and whatever typoes annoy me, ...

At the end of the day, though, and despite this almighty spanner thrown by some unknown, possibly malicious, person or persons, we produced a really excellent book. I really want to stress this point. It really is a great book. It is an absolute wealth of information on the Imperium, the Spinward M...

But, PHEW! UWPs are a right pain to get right - there is just so many little things that can go wrong with a typo and these are difficult to spot. To be honest I would have prefered to keep Andor as well, it is a slightly annoying typo. Hey, I understand. I have to do a *lot* of checking for anothe...

The UWPs are primarily from Supplement 3, with a few updated to the SMC. I disagree with a couple of the choices, but they are all defensible. This book never was going to have stellar data in it. However, this is actually a good thing. The stellar data for the Spinward Marches is so bad and has cha...

Spinward Marches Preview

Looking at the Spinward Marches preview, everything looks pretty good until I got to the UWPs. First, Andor is still spelled wrong. I know for a fact that was a specific line item that was supposed to be fixed. Second, while not exactly elegant, I am to assume that the "I" in the "Remarks" is being ...

I would have liked to have heard the person's point of view that voted for humanity being a fluke. Would have made for good conversation... I won't vote that humanity is a "fluke". However, it seems completely reasonable if humanity is effectively the only intelligent life. The entire history of kn...

Re: Scout Ship and other things.

I noticed that the Scout ship's power does not seem consitant. It shows that there is 40 tons of fuel for one jump-2 and 10 weeks of operation. I understand the 20 tons but for 10 weeks at power plant A, it should be 10 tons (2 tons per 2-weeks x 5). This would give fuel tonnage of 30 tons. The oth...

I will be running an OTU:1248 campaign in a few months myself...... I will point out that all three 1248 books (so far, a fourth should be released shortly) and all virtually systemless. And what very few stats are present (UWPs mostly, plus a few UPPs) are all CT, and so should easily work with MG...

Since the game is not out yet forget about it. I can only shudder when I think of the Age of Conan Forum. Of course, that is a moot point. What stops the fourth Imperium still being around in the 1400's? The Vilani wouldn't have had the time to strangle the life out of it yet.... :) I got the impression you were after a nacent Imperium, not one that has been around for a century and a half. Then again, 150 years isn't very long in Tra...

Well, if you want 1400s, then you are likely looking at the 5th Imperium, as the 4th Imperium is already established by 1248.

After a primary setting (presumably either 1105 or 1112) is selected, is anyone else going to be permitted to pursue other settings (like 1248 or 993)?
