If you are interested in running a fun psuedo-historical campaign, you should get a copy of the old Robin Hood campaign book. You can pick it up used for very little money. It was by Iron Crown Enterprises for Rolemaster, MERP, and Fantasy Hero, but you could easily use it with Runequest. The timeli...

For the Runequest material, none of the published books are open content that I am aware of. If you have any questions about if a book's contents are open or not, simply look at the statements found on the title pages of the books. For example, my copy of Legendary Heroes states: This game product c...

If you've spent 3-4 years studying for a scientific degree, then it gives you something of an idea as to what scientific method involves - and why a blunt translation of an etymological root, won't suffice. You would think that since us social scientists are the ones that study languages, we'd be t...

Re: History is not science I've found that as a historian, people who have a degree in the hard sciences tend to reject the wider definition of science that social scientists use. Hard science people have a narrow definition of science, whereas social scientists tend to have a broad definition of sc...

I went yesterday to the FLGS and Runequest Deluxe was not there yet. However, since I was intent on buying deluxe, I picked up Faery's Tale Deluxe. :-)

Although Mr. Sprange already pointed it out, it's worth repeating. U.S. market prices and U.K. market prices are different. Merely converting pounds to dollars doesn't accurately reflect how goods should be priced. Lots of goods are priced higher in the U.S. than in other markets, but it's just the ...

When I asked my original question I asked about rewriting the CharGen rules, but really I could have been referring to any rules section e.g. Combat, or Equipment, or any other that springs to mind. Now point 11 specifically prevents me from rewriting the CharGen rules, but does that mean that ever...

13) Glorantha is off-limits Does this mean that Newhon, or the other settings for RuneQuest are ok? No, they are all from closed (i.e. not OGL) books. Additionally, any information on the settings would be considered Product Identity if found in an OGL book. One last thing about the settings is tha...

Yeah, it used to be part of the zip download, but isn't anymore. I would recommend Mongoose putting the terms back online, even if you guys still want the signed licensing agreement form to only be available upon contact. That way people at least know what it entails.

You can change rules, derive new systems/items, etc. from the SRD and publish them. All the rules you derive from the SRD will have to be open content per the terms of the OGL. If you use the RuneQuest logo, then the terms of the licensing agreement prohibit you from including Characteristic generat...

Did Mongoose stop distributing to Amazon?

I've been waiting for Pirates to show up at Amazon and I'm waiting for the release of Deluxe Runequest. However, it doesn't appear that either one has been listed with Amazon. I have a Prime account there so I like to order through them. Any word on when/if these are going to show up on Amazon?

The third book would continue eastward and focus on the Tang Dynasty in China during the same time period (800 A.D.). I would definitely like to get involved in the Tang book (if you're OK with my proposal). I have already worked a lot on mediaeval China, see http://www.basicrps.com/chine Right now...

Is this due to new miniatures coming out or the discontinuation of the line?

I'm working on writing a book set around 800 A.D. dealing with the Carolingian empire and its enemies making use of the Runequest SRD/OGL. Unfortunately, work on it just began last month and it won't be finished until 4th quarter 2008. I've also got plans to do two expansions at least for it, one de...

I won't be buying it sadly. I've shown faith and bought all the MRQ stuff already. I couldn't possibly justify spending another £30-£40 on a book containg stuff I already have. that's insane. I suppose many of you will however and I'll expect to see core MRQ books flooding ebay and going for a song...

I talked to one of the Mongoose guys at their Origins booth and he said it was the main books printed in one book with corrections and updates.
