I hope the RQ6 license learns from the Heroquest Gateway license and makes it a bit more open. Just out of interest how could the HQ Gateway in your opinion made any better by making it a bit more open. Not being snarky here just intrigued? I'm not Ultor, but just as an example of it being less ope...

As an alternative to the OGL, I'd also throw in the suggestion of making it a Creative Commons license, perhaps CC BY-SA.

To my knowledge, Mongoose hasn't decided what their license will be, so it might be OGL. There are lots of ways that they could go, public domain, creative commons, OGL, something else. I'd love to see it done as a Creative Commons license, perhaps CC BY-SA but I don't see that happening. The bonus ...

Since Runequest 6 won't be OGL, I'm even more hoping that Mongoose goes ahead with Legend and makes it OGL. Yes, I know Runequest 6 will have a license, but the Gateway license isn't as open as the OGL in my opinion. So please Mongoose, make Legend happen and make it OGL. :)

I guess the easiest thing to do is to just put a declaration of open content in the books and place the OGL license at the end of the book. Making it OGL makes it so that stuff using the 1st edition SRD is easily accessible for combining it with any new stuff. For example: Legend Core Rules Copyrigh...

Nothing has changed as to what the OGL and SRD allow you to do. Once released as open content, it's forever open content.

No promises, but we are certainly considering it.

I went to the nearest gaming store last week to buy the core rule book and they didn't have it. So I went to the next closest and they didn't have it. So I went to the third closest gaming store and they didn't have it. I gave up and ordered it from Amazon. I should have just done that to begin with.

This is absolutely not the truth. Only gamers who usually shop on the internet (the minority) have access to monographs, because monographs are, by definition, only sold by the publisher. For the majority of gamers, monographs do not exist, because their local shops do not carry them. Third party s...

We can speculate that because a lot of the third party releases gravitated towards BRP, it naturally inhibited the open support of MRQ1. Sorry, what are you talking about? So far there have been some 10-15 third party books published with the RuneQuest logo - and I am not counting PDFs - and the in...

For RQ, we saw no appreciable pull from third parties as we have with Traveller. Basically, it has not been worth the admin time we put behind it. But Mongoose Traveller was met with far more approval as a core game than MRQ1 was. I would hazard a guess that the lukewarm attitude to MRQ1 that cause...

Well, this is disappointing ... :( Will RQ2 have open content with an SRD? No. Extremely disappointing. I guess people will just have to support OpenQuest instead of the new RuneQuest. I don't understand the decision since they are basically going to two "main" systems for their business and Travel...

No.
That's very disappointing. It was one of the best things about MRQ. It's also odd since Traveller is the other "main" system and it has one.
