I agree with you : sometimes reprinted stuff can be handy.

But to see that a paragraph has been copy-pasted elsewhere in the same book is never pleasant.

That is also my opnion : Vincent's stuff is great, Mongoose's editing is terrible.

I'm still amazed when I find reprinted material in a book. It just kills me that I actually paid for it twice.

Just something I'd like to know : who's Fabian from and what is his agenda ?

I don't remember. But this makes me think that there should be no penalty when the targets moves towards you.

Clovenhoof wrote:And what other tactics are useful against mounted opponents?
Choose your ground : horses won't be able to charge on an uneven ground. Traps may also do the job.

Shoot down as many as you can with ranged weapons before they get to you.

As PCs, Temptresses are a lot of fun too. In my games, the temptress also proved to be quite an asset to the group (she gathered a fair load of intel).

The German movie Aguirre : The Wrath of God also does the job (in a very Westermarckish way).

Of course, the "woman in need for security" is a cliché , but no more than the greedy woman. And REH wrote using clichés and stereotypes. IMO this version is more interesting than the other. We have enough greedy characters in the different sourcebooks. I like it. :) Another motive for a Temptress ...

Well, what I do when one character is chasing another is making a STR-based roll for both and see how it turns out.

I'd say all the rules will be in the MRB and all the background information in Return to the RoK (a la Deadlands).

Gluttony=Aghrapur
Wrath=Venarium ?
Sloth=Khemi ?

Thaug seemed pretty Lovecraftian to me. The creature from Vale of the Lost Women is another monster a la HPL.

But eventually, steel and muscles can overcome anything.

Arh Matey !

I'm considering starting a Pirate Isles campaign. I was wondering if anybody here did.

I'm afraid it could be hard to keep the distance in this kind of campaign, once every "classical" kind of plot (treasure hunt,...) has been used once.

I'm also very satisfied with it. Lots of useful stuff. I only deplore the lack of maps and the reprints from Hyboria's.
