Well, it is true that only so much regional material is needed, though it could be the outer dark covers a lotta territory (but still should only be 1 or 2 books at most). The real potential for neverending source material is adventures. Personally I dont mind the idea of a a bunch of published adve...

Myself being an old style gamer, I dont mind B&W inner art though keeping the book hardcover I think is a good idea. I also wouldnt complain if there was a bit less art. Having said that I dont mind the way the first edition is laid out either. What would bother me is a big price increase. Where I a...

well what I call a disruptive player is a few of the worst I've had over the years, a pair of them actively cheating during a campaign, another who, during a con no less actively threatened the players characters and harassed them more then the villains. What I do is a variation of the same theme. I...

I for one am glad travellers coming back. At least with mongoose I know it should be good, definately not cheap (no rpg is anymore) but still good I expect. Personally I got into it "late" that is last couple years of high school in 87 & 88. Did the original traveller but didnt use their campaign ma...

Ok, I gotta ask about this boardgame club since nobody else has yet but does anyone there play the conan rpg (or any rpgs for that matter?) Canada - Ontario - Toronto: Toronto Area Boardgame Society is a great place to start looking. There are many players of Starship Troopers, Battlefield EVO, Baby...

I dont mind 1st ed much, is good for certain types of games, but again for conan the magic system needs some alteration for the setting, so no more +5 vorpal freezing heat seeking AI weightless high speed sword of infinite healing. Of course I'm overstating it (if just a bit) but the early treasure ...

There are those, myself included who do like the older editions of AD&D. Believe it or not there are more than a few gamers who have a preference for some older games, but thats another story. Having just got conan a month or so ago and having played 1st ed. for years I can say it cant be too diffic...

I just noticed this tonight, I went to their website and it is indeed true. Guardians of order is gone, as of last summer (2006). I saw their besm stuff in the very comic shop where I picked up the conan rpg a few weeks ago. I'm also a BESM fan, even met mark mckinnon at a con a few years ago. All I...

Hi again, If its not too much trouble I say please do sticky it. I'll go first here if its ok. I'm in Ontario Canada, Town I live in is Port Hope (east of toronto) which is next to cobourg. I'm looking for gaming group / club running a Conan campaign. Alternatively I'd be interested in starting a Co...

I think the conan mythos itself deals mainly in shades of neutral. That is Conan himself and those around him have done some "evil" acts, but then turn and do much more heroic acts. I guess many characters could be nailed down as "neutral self centered". I think the Conan rpg's handling of this does...

Club locator for USA & Canada (perhaps elsewhere too?)
Hi all, I noticed the stickey club locater in UK thread and thought one for north america (or elsewhere even) would be an excellent idea. There are those such as myself who dont live in a big city with a con, 3 game shops and 2 clubs that are easily found. I'm in Port Hope (Canada) and the nearest g...

I hate to be the parrot here but I agree 3 is a good party size. Seems to me to fit the Conan setting rather well. And personally I find it a good size to GM, especially when I was new at being the GM. Especially when you dont know all the players as well. This is especially noticeable at convention...

As I mentioned in another thread I think its a great idea. Anyone beside me remeber some of those AD&D mini adventures published several to a book in late 80's & early 90's? Mongoose could do much the same thing and do it quite well. While it is true players often do read the adventures, its easy en...

I think the old tsr "desert of desolation" series would be a very good option, or something along a similar vein. Another old TSR adventure I liked where the think adventures which were actually collections of encounters & mini adventures that could be used as is or expanded into larger adventures. ...
