Re: New setting for Traveller needed

Effectively, in Traveller, tech levels 13-15 are a singe TL, just slightly subdivided. They all seem to represent the Imperial maximum. Before TL 13, TLs are much more differentiated.

[Zozer Games] Planetary Tool Kit 3: Mazandaran

Mazandaran is most famous for its World River, a single river that cuts a channel almost the entire circumference of the planet. The river forms the heart of Mazandaran society, it is the life-blood of the economy and a single ribbon of settlement wrapping itself around the world. The World River it...

Re: New setting for Traveller needed

Maybe create a Starting book that allowed the GM following a set of guidelines to design out a Colony ship, and then a set of rules design out completely with loads of details the destination star system and planet the Colony ship will reach. Then add in another set of rules for the GM to figure ou...

Re: New setting for Traveller needed

The nice thing about Traveller is that you can alter the universe for your players as much as you want. Need a new setting for your players to explore? Take the Spinward Marches sector and leave the borders intact, but most of the planets are more or less empty, so you have lots of opportunities fo...

Re: New setting for Traveller needed

Just look what Star Trek did when they couldn't get any more story out of their universe... firstly, BANG! wormhole to another sector of space! And then ... WHOOSH! USS Voyager whisked off to an unexlored part of the galaxy! It's not just Traveller players feeling a bit hemmed in ...

Re: New setting for Traveller needed

Not neccessarily rust, a great deal can be done with emphasising different rules or aspects of the implied setting, or by toning down or reducing other aspects. Outer Veil's cap on TL is just such a point, it stays within the rules, but says 'well, the rules give us all these TLs to use, why dont't ...

Re: New setting for Traveller needed

I'm not sure about this. It is possible to build a setting that 'feels' different to the default 3I setting without much change to the technological assumptions or the rule systems. Heck, the 2300 setting does this to some extent - although admittedly there are a few areas where things are fairly d...

Re: [Zozer Games] Star Trader-A Solo Trading Game for Travel

A great review (5 out of 5 stars!) was posted up on DriveThruRPG by one of the Featured Reviewers: http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product_reviews.php?products_id=118337 In summary: "Pick up this book, which blends trading and all the other stuff that makes Traveller fun into a workable solo game... [Zozer Games] Star Trader-A Solo Trading Game for Traveller

A Solo Trading Game for Traveller http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/118337/Star-Trader The aim of Star Trader is to travel from world to world buying cargoes as cheaply as possible then selling them elsewhere for as high a price as possible. But this is Traveller, not 'fantasy stocks and shares'...

Well if I can write a Roman sailing and a Cold War fighter jet version of Traveller, pirates will be no problem!

Re: psionic

Next to the photocopier today, I saw a sheet at the school I work at. I could have sworn it said: Psionics Testing Children Aged 8-9, with a complete series of boxes to tick. But I am quite ill, and have been thinking about this thread, I looked twice and it said Phonics Testing ...

F33D, have you seen this: http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/rpgs/ ... dbook.html

It's the standard for Mongoose Traveller vehicle builds, not just 3i, but 2300AD, Orbital, and a host of other third party publishers.

Re: Hard SciFi Conventional Space Combat

I considered vector movement for the TL9 ships of Orbital, but started going crazy trying to tie in the rules in the core book. Instead I compromised and based the combat rules on the Core book, with one or two significant amendments to give the sense and the feel of slow, rocket-based space combat....
