Re: Book 10: Cosmopolite - Now on Drivethru

I find this quite an interesting idea for a book, more civilian/citizen/scholar careers and ideas ticks a lot of boxes.

Sadly my eyesight is now so poort I find the LBBs unreadable.

Re: Elric of Melniboné

Big fan of the Young Kingdoms games over the years but you know what? It's time to move on. There are new and different authors that would make new and different licensed rpgs: there's enough Moorcock stuff available to keep us old guys happy. So, who in that kind of gritty dark fantasy (and it need...

Re: Free Epic Campaign - The Pirates of Drinax

Thank you.

I am running Pirates and some spillover one offs in the Goertal subsector so all helps.

Would like to see some background information as well as the core adventures.

Re: Comment on the State of the Mongoose

What would be worth a Kickstarter, would be to make an all digital software version of Traveller - so that you could generate characters, starships, worlds and systems all with a computer or tablet. If they can raise enough money, it could be made really slick and stylishly with graphics for starsh...

Re: Free Epic Campaign - The Pirates of Drinax

I have started the game and I am generally happy with the setup. The problem is that very quickly the players move to systems that are not in the available Library Data. Mine jumped to Pourne immediately, and that's not to be detailed until Adventure 6. So.. do I say 'you can't go there' or "it's al...

Nice and a sensible way forward for material that is fine printed from a PDF or done as a POD.
This is what we need to see more of.

Re: Future Traveller - Testing the Waters

2e Mercenary and High Guard, yes, because they're broken. Make HG self contained (no flipping between core book and HG) and get a ship grognard like Dom Mooney to error check the heck out of it. Mercenary needs to be more like the SPICA Field Manual, and present more of an adventure engine. 2e Core ...

Re: Free Epic Campaign - The Pirates of Drinax

Could we have some more planet thumbnails. I don't mind waiting for the bug adventures but I need some stuff on more systems so I don't create a version of my own that Gareth will differ from.

Re: Traveller 2.0

Maybe a Traveller: Ultra Tech sourcebook that opens up the higher tech levels? But also wait for 2300AD, a lot of the gene engineering, cybernetics will be in there. As long as you call it your ATU, then no-one will critique it overly. To get modern homogenous galactic culture you need to introduce ...

Re: Darrians Book Feedback and Question

In my copy, it's a standard 2d6 roll, modified by the DMs on the native Darrian table. The Aslan table is not culmulitive with the native darrian table and used for Aslans orginating from Darrian worlds of .7g or less. In my copy (printed) the text modifies the dice rolls, and then after that there...

Yes. Have both. You may, for example, replace the Legend combat system with the OQ one. It's utterly interchangeeable. OR, vice versa!

Darrians Book Feedback and Question

Pete, I just read the CT Aliens module the Darrians and then the GURPS Humaniti book, especially the Darrians sections and then I found the Mongoose Darrians book in Travelling Man's 50% off Spring Sale. I have to say you have done a great job. Nuanced, weaving between the different versions, buildi...

Re: Stargate rpg (yes, again...)

It's a classic Traveller style game. It can be played with a lot of character interaction or a military grab and go game. I'd say that rather than licence it I'd do a Traveller supplement for dimension hopping, time travel, gates between worlds and allow the GM/player to build campaigns kinda like S...

Re: A Brian Lumley's Necroscope setting.

I think it'd be better as a Traveller system game with the usual horror bolt ons.

The WEG game was good, and it's a creepy setting.

Sandy Petersen did a full RQ3 writeup of a tekumel conversion.

But it does have a rather cursed history.

Having said that I own most of it and love it.

But yes, I'd buy that one book in a flash.

Re: Mongoose and the 5th Frontier War

I'd like the War as a book in and of itself, a 'history'. A GM can then move the clock forward and play it, or just ignore it and keep their game as is. One could also do a Rebellion 'history' as well, or a Solomani War history, but not progress the core setting books, these histories are self conta...
