I have just one question; Is the rules 100% RQ (except for science and magic)? most importantly, does it use the same hit points per hit location as RQ? or does it use a system like Elric! / Stormbringer5? I just wonder, because if it is the same RQ rules, I see no reason to bother with this version...

I have just one question, since I know Loz will make a very good work on handling the rest of the setting. Will Elric use the same HP per Hit Location system that RQ uses, or will it use a system more similar to that in Elric! and Stormbringer5? (which I felt was much much faster and more in line wi...

This is coming out of my ass, but Im guessing that it'll be based on Runequest specifically, with little to no similarity to Stormbringer5. It's a shame 5th edition is a pretty cool game, the system is pretty lean and mean. In two minds over this release, but best not prejudge, as they say best wai...

I have not been visiting these forums in a long while, and when I do, the first I see is this. Is Mongoose going to publish an Elric RPG? have they got the rights from Chaosium? and if so, how close will it be systemwise to the already existing Elric!/Stormbringer 5th edition system available from C...

I always liked different weapon types having different effects. I carried forward a rule from RQ II to RQ III and have alterted it for MRQ, that was crushes and slashing as well a impailing. Impailing no change to RAW . Slashing roll weapon damage twice (makes Great Axes and Great Swords leathel, b...

Then the other interesting question would be: will the the new BRPS be Open as RuneQuest is, or the tool of Chaosium alone? That is what I wonder too. I hope for Open License, as it would make a lot of business sense. But having tried to get permission to use their system in the past, I do not beli...

Re: Chaosium being picked apart slowly...

First RQ (I know, they didn't own RQ anymore, but MRQ is a direct competitor to DBRP - if it ever comes out) DBRP is reaching the end of a very thorough playtest. It will come it, although no release date has been set, and will be a very complete set of rules allowing BRP to be applied across a ran...

More Fantasy, SciFi and Post-apocalyptic settings. More optional rules and variations on rules (for example dropping hit locations and running with Total HP, introducing a Major Wound table instead), to better make the rules suit different genres such as sword and sorcery, etc. More non-Glorantha ma...

Squad Sheet updated

My squad sheet (the ones for humanoids) has been updated to easier keep track of the effects of Serious and Major wounds, just like the Character sheet. You can find it in the RuneQuest section of the site, just follow the link from my signature.

Simple Character sheet 1.9

I have once more updated the Character sheet. Version 1.9 changes; > Changed the check boxes for Serious and Major wounds to make it easier to directly see what effect it has for that specific hit location when it comes to rolling Resilience tests. > Fixed the spell section as it missed "Duration" f...

Sorry for my earlier post being quite negative, was in a bad mood when I wrote it. While I still think the system is a bit too slow to be used for the setting I am writing for RuneQuest, I really really really want to make it work. I have already spent 6+ months of writing on the setting specificall...

That is just the thing, I never expected RQ to be slower than d20 (which is one of the slowest systems I have used). I expected it to at least be on par with Stormbringer 5, if not faster. It is only simpler in some aspects compared to d20, while much more burdensome in the mechanics in other aspect...

Well, I hope that the RQ version of Hawkmoon preserve the speed and flair of the Stormbringer/Elric! RPGs. Do away with hit locations, use only Total HP, and a Major Wound table to roll on. Plus use the brilliant Close, Medium, Long distances of melee fighting.

Y'know. No offence here, but... Wouldn't common sense be applicable here? I mean if the head is mangled/severed, shouldn't death be instantaneous? I would think so, but it seems the RQ system designers does not. Even with a mangled head you get to roll Resilience to see if you die or not, if you st...

Rickard Watts: I do not have any info to give you. But I just wanted to say thank you, I really like the work you have done on Elric! and its supplement. Elric! was the first basic role-playing game I felt was close to perfection.

As for hit locations being disabled, one idea I haven't heard much discussed but that I think should work quite well would be to use total HP as per previous RQ (possibly allowing up to -HP to allow room for incapacitation without death), then use the locational HP as wound threshholds... take 4 HP...

Hmm, I just realized a thing after reading through the rules about injuries again. I know this is to be the devils advocate and a stickler for rules, but; Not only does decapitation of body parts not occur according to MRQ rules, but should it actually occur, you will still die since there are no wa...

Two players against two NPCs at a time was time consuming enough. I can not really see myself running a combat with 5-6 PCs and perhaps and equal amount or more number of NPCs/Monsters. That would take some serious preparation. Be prepared to spend a signifciant amount of the evening (or whenever yo...

A warsword with a slight damage modifier is enough to deal 10 pts of damage. Needless to say, rolling a critical it does help. In SP36, Mongoose suggested a revised weapon table that "facilitates limb severance", and indeed weapons deal more damage in this version. And it adds even more problems as...
