Re: samurai of legend

I've been playing a lot of "Legend of the Five Rings" recently which is a samurai-themed game with lots of magic, and I think it works really well.

Re: Greek Pantheon: Anybody done this?

It might be no harm to check the MRQ wiki or search through google, but I can't say I know of any such mods. You may hae to check the net. Seeing how Legend is relative new, you may need to find a MRQ 1 or 2 mod and convert it a little. I started on the wiki but didn't get very far. I can't link it...

Re: 2 odd - perhaps silly - questions regarding Glorantha

I think I know what you mean about the tables - it can be hard to spot where the dividing line between professions is if I recall correctly. The table entries do seem to run on into each other. Do you have a specific example?

Re: New Common Magic Spells

... there was another spell presented earlier in this thread called "Ease Pain". That spell lasts for 5 minutes and can be used to ease the pain during child birth (obviously it has to be cast several times in most normal birthing situations). Perhaps THAT is the Common Spell and Ease Childbirth is...

Re: New Common Magic Spells

Ease Childbirth may sound like a great idea. But the lesson of modern medicine is that if you decrease infant mortality, you cause a population explosion that the local resources can't sustain. However, such modern medicine is fairly new in our world, it may be that a fantasy world where Ease Childb...

Re: MRQ Wiki - new

As Legend core book does not include any monsters and also no player races (which can be used from monster races), it would be great to see some example monsters for Legend/MRQ2 like: human guard, elf, dwarf, goblin, orc, zombie. And some typical animals: wolf, bear, giant spider. I would steer cle...

Re: Spell Research ?

A grimoire is more than a set of spells. It is a religious or philosophical treatise, and from the tenets enshrined in the text can be derived certain methods of manipulating otherworldly forces. This interpretation is derived from the Gloranthan setting of MRQ2, but could be applied to a number of ...

Re: Losing and Regaining Lost Permanent Magic Points

Sounds fine, if that fits the style of the game world. In Glorantha, some cultures consider Tapping to be evil, but some don't, and the rules didn't come down on either side as to whether Tapped magic points carried any taint. There are some hints that the Magic Points that Borist sorcerors got from...

Re: Losing and Regaining Lost Permanent Magic Points

It still pays better to keep POW and INT, and Tap one's own STR, CON, DEX, SIZ and CHA for the Magic Points to use in the enchantment, then to use Restoration to bring back those lost points. If you were to allow this as a GM you may as well remove the idea of putting stats in an item. Just increas...

Yes, it seems daft that tapping your own POW first and then getting it restored is the safe option...

Is it possible that a captain is able to navigate by simple instructions from the captain that trained him? No elephant hunters in your world? Is ivory of no value? Also, clearly you never read any "Middle-aged Radioactive Karate Elephant" comics when you were a kid,

Re: New Common Magic Spells

There is a precedent for this kind of spell though (in Glorantha): doesn't Humakt teach Detect Assassin? What if I assassinated someone 15 years ago? Do I still 'ping'? Yes, assassinating someone is a permanent stain on your soul, and the spell detects that. Unless you are Illuminated, probably. Di...

Re: Special / Critical Success and CMs

Given that you can abort a parry after the Attack roll has been made (something that I am toying with doing away with - commit to Parry roll and you remain committed - has anyone playtested this?), failing to block any damage with an ordinary success will only occur when the defender is going for a...

"It's the Will of the Gods." Eugh. I hate sloppy world design. The players might like a slip sliding world that shifts around, where gravity depends on whether the God of Gravity is paying attention today, but Games Masters don't have that luxury. Sure, if you extend the whim of the gods to somethi...
