Thanks for the clear explanation of your thinking Will. The cover's not to my tastes (Although to be honest I'm an ancient hard core gaming dinosaur who's more interested in the effectiveness of anyrules tweaks and how the RQ6 team handle this...) but I appreciate your line of thought and sincerely ...

Moozac of the Spheres

I guess many of us will have done what I did and made mix CDs (OK, tapes, I'm that old!) and playlists for atmosphere. As GM I demand the right to select the sounds and come over all dictatorial about it. Perks of the job and all that. A selection from our 'Space Dog' (The Ship's name, from an adven...

Ouch! The extensions / hair gel look of the contemporary self obsessed moody teen. Are Mongoose planning a Twilight setting? Anyway if it reads well and any rule tweaks are good 'uns it could still be worth a punt at a tenner.

Sword Worlds

I'm the happy owner of the old GURPs Sword Worlds supplement. It is of particular interest at the moment as my players are zooming around in the vicinity. The GURPs supplement was, as were almost all their Traveller products, fantastic value. GURPs Sword Worlds was thorough, full of excellent settin...

Ars Magica is the gold standard of RPG magic systems. A RQ version is doable but would take much more time and care than I have available! I think the power of sorcery in RQ can be moderate by limiting Grimoires. I have a maximum of 5 spells per Grimoire. The Tomes themselves are also learned texts ...

I also fear there may be some broth spoiling afoot. I loved RQ3 and enjoyed the BRP big book. MRQ2 introduced the combat manouevres which I like. A few tweaks is all that was really required for MRQ2 (Noted on various threads on this forum. Movement clarification, economics...). Between these and my...

In the end it's your game. However sociopathic characters are likely to end up ruining games. The reasons for this are pretty obvious; you can't trust them, they're going to land their companions in very hot water sooner or later and they are likely to make a lot of enemies quickly. Also it really i...

Running Griffin Island using the old RQ3 sorcery stats was a bit of a headache! Long duration spells were a major feature of sorcery. It took a long time to get good enough to use long duration but it was a major 'build' when sorcerers got there. Also the enormously powerful NPCs in Griffin Island (...

This is an ongoing problem with RQ2 (Legend?). Check out the wages of the average teacher/craftsperson/labourer and then look at the prices Player Characters have to pay for training! Of course any medieval or tribal economy is a completetly different beast to a modern capitalist one. However findin...

Deus Vult/Elric worth picking up for a non-Melnibonean?

Since MRQ2 is dead (Long live the Wayfarer/Pathfinder/TourGuide etc)and Drive-Thru have put up a pile of supplements at knock down prices I'm looking for a little advice. I have the core and Gloranthan setting stuff, which is generally excellent, but am wondering about the usefulness of Deus Vult an...

For Alex: He could cast it on himself, and did I believe, but height (I think they had 100M+ of rope between them!) gave a distinct advantage and the sorceror couldn'y Fly an entire human. The dog stayed aloft even when the Farsee ran out as the sorceror could extend the duration (It was a bit diffe...

One of my favourites from an old RQ3 campaign: A party of adventurers pursue a raiding band of Keishlan (Think vaguely Mongolian) nomads into the arid steppelands and lose them. They become completely lost. Even with the help of their faithful hound they can't sniff the way home. Hunger, and especia...

Wayfarer Tweaks: Improving on RQ2.

Given that RQ2 is about to change is it worth having a thread (This one?) to flag up areas that need ironing out/clarification/tweaking? It could only be to the benefit of Wayfarer and the future of the system in general. Possible solutions could be offered by those lucky enough to have time on thei...

RQ2: Looting the corpse...

So now that RQ2 has lost all its hit points and shuffled off this mortal coil what is going to happen to the remaining product? I'm sorely tempted to snap up the nice cheap PDF's I've missed on Drive-Thru but much prefer the real thing. Are there any plans for an OOPs sale of Races of Glorantha, Com...

Soltakss probably has the most helpful idea. Create you own gods. If you want you can cherry pick features you like from existing mythst and mould them into your own story. It's worked well in my RQ campaign for decades. Pseudo-Celtic/Viking/Persian-Roman/Christian societies and matching pantheons w...

Curious mix of Nordic and Grecian pantheons. If you're mixing them up and looking for more ideas why not mine some other religions and myths Ancient Egyptian, Celtic etc Maybe even Christian/Islamic and other contemporary religions given it's centuries in the future?
