Same as the Light Saber, inverse tachyon pulses, and wearing an "H" on your forehead. Possibly not actually. It seems to me that the Sonic Screwdriver is a tool to focus the Doctor's will (which is why it seemingly can do anything, at least to non-mechanical devices) - in other words, it's a psioni...

You have to make the advancement roll, since it also serves as the retention roll. My (as far as I know) up to date English PDF says you can get promoted even if you got promoted by an event: Advancement: Each career has an advancement roll. The advancement roll is mandatory. If an Event has already...

There are essentially four kinds of fire: Direct-Aimed direct-Sheaf indirect-Aimed indirect-sheaf Once you get sufficient motion to be more than half your length from your original position, the shot can no longer be aimed at the center of the ship's predicted position. At that point, you have to sa...

Anyway, point is if you have decent computers, a ship one light year away, if it has a thrust of 1G, is essentially a sitting duck in terms of starship laser combat, whatever it's velocity (allthough that may not last long if it has a high relative velocity). And it's mathematically wrong. You simp...

I set up a feature on my own World Gen spreadsheet that calculated population density, as a useful guide. It seems that an average mainworld generated through the MT system has a population density, when rounded to two decimal places, roughly equal to that of the moon :) I was thinking about doing ...

hot may be viable ag worlds if the uniformity of climate is low,

Hot, hydro at 6-8, massive rainforests.
cold, might have abundant sea resources, might have massive summer bloom.

The Frozen and Boiling, unlikely.

FOr hot and cold, redact it unless you have a story reason.

IMTU, it depends on just how "shut down" the ship is. See, if the PP's cold, nope, you are not going to be able, since it requires human intervention in the startup sequences for security reasons. The computer and a human have to collude to start the PP... and you need at least 1000MW for 1 minute t...

Liberia is one of those countries that will register for cash and a handshake. "Flag of convenience" is a neat term for what I was describing above. In Traveller terms, Regina, Mora, Rhylanor, Lunion, and Glisten will all want extensive paperwork to get a ship registered there. Many legitimate ship...

Marc had a Fair Use policy in place, so it was all good provided you followed the rules of the policy. NOW its a bit more complicated. No, Marc put one in place in about '96. And then promptly forgot to have a open page indicating what is was for much of the following decade. Nor a working public E...

The Noble's huscarles may be called in to deal with overpowering offworlders who go extra-legal. A few marines with grav belts, ACR's, Battledress, and a PGMP or two can make short work of such types.

I'm no engineer, but 5% efficiency is really crappy isn't it? If you convert the energy directly to electricity (using some kind of really beefy solar-panel type thing that directly absorbs photons or whatever from the fusion reaction) then you should be able to get much higher efficiencies than th...

Ah... weed... The state of AK decriminalized marijuana. Then we recriminalized it. But most local law enforcement won't enforce it. So it's neither legal, nor punished. Anchorage issued an enforcement ban to its officers, which basically reinstituted the decriminalization limits of 1oz on person and...
