Re: Review of all craft deckplans in Beta

You missed on the Sub. Liner that the cargo door of the launch cannot be accessed while docked, so the launch cannot unload cargo unless it either fits through the personnel lock, or is vacuum rated.

Re: Isometric layouts

I prefer the isometric ones. Some of the Supplement books use that style also. I don't use any maps in my games though. I think the isometric ones are nice to look at, but to be honest, if I can only have one style, I would rather keep the 2D style. I was not a fan of the isometric dungeon layouts ...

Re: No Ship Design Process

I understand that spacecraft design has been changed and will be fully detailed in High Guard, but the lack of even a rudimentary ship design sequence in the new Core Rules is a big negative for me. I can't speak for Mongoose, but my understanding was that Main Rulebook, CSC and High Guard were con...

After looking at the preview I see what you guys mean about the maps, I'm guessing they'll be clearer in the full PDF and rulebook. I'm not a fan of the trend toward "everyplace that you can't walk and isn't an engine is full of fuel." I can live with the maps but I'll just assume there are electro...

[quote="C. Chapman" I also agree that having deckplans for a lot of the larger ships is not only pointless, but has been a problem; the larger ship deckplans would consume too much book space if presented larger, but presented as small as they are they are pretty illegible and therefore next to usel...

Barsawa: I've seen entire campaigns run of Tri-Tac's various games... the detailed combat was no killer at all. It was exactly what that group wanted. the "Details kill a game" BS is exactly that: bovine excrement. Details for a group that doesn't want/need them can kill the fun. Lack of details for...

Using the "traveller standard g" of 10m/s/s (instead of the 9.8m/s/s terran G), 5 sec is 50m/s, and only half that in positional change... Rough minimal size for a starship is 1400m^3... a cube of about 11.3m. Given any reasonabe firing range (which, for lasers, really is about 0.1LS, or 30,000,000m...

Then again, maybe people don't even use vehicles - at TL 11 a personal grav floater is only 500 Cr (?!) so maybe that's what they use to get around. Sorta like a Segway, only cooler :). Of course, as I understand it you'd still need Flyer (grav) to operate the thing. Not as designed under MT, TNE, ...

In case you didn't notice, the woman in the picture ain't a schoolgirl.
Many of the gals wearing similar around here aren't, either... but they are trying to look like one!

Ridiculously impractical? no. A lot of youth are wearing spandex tops and trousers these days, and not just as workout wear. The mismatch of only one sleeve? that's purely a fashion statement. But the rest of the outfit is as practical as most of the outfits worn by 13-19yo girls in Anchorage high s...

If you're going to use Hero System, get the Traveller books for it. There are 2 volumes, and they provide all the races, and the ship design system. I've only seen PDFs, and only on drivethrurpg.com, but YMMV. For a numbers heavy, high crunch system, it's remarkably flexible. BTW, for Hero System, 4...

Nope. No "science" to it... just feel.

However, a good starting point is the animal generation tables.

T5 has a "science" to it, but you need the T5 preview to get that.

Niven's Smoke Ring

Just about a perfect vignette setting; a single 98pp book should handle most of it nicely. And it's not been licensed out yet.

It's a cool, inhabited, life sustaining 0-G setting....
