Re: Maintenance Costs

Pg145 – Costs and Maintenance: The poor maintenance table is rolled monthly if no maintenance is paid? Or every month AFTER failing to do annual maintenance?? Mongoose's maintenance is monthly, not per annum. The repairs and maintenance paragraph is sending mixed messages too. It talks about annual...

A bit of history... In CT, MT, and T20, ship receipts were in the following pattern for merchant, lab ship, corsair, and yacht 1st: Down payment made, 40 years owed 2nd-4th: 10 years payments made each The Type S was simply a ship permanently assigned to the scout, and only one, no matter how many r...

Re: Missile Thrust

The new design sequences in the HG draft go to about 22 G... at sufficiently high TL's. Those TL's don't match other Traveller branded products (current nor past) for that many G's compensated and/or gravitic maneuver drive G's... Changing the specs on a missile depending on the TL is S-M-A-R-T, as...

Agreed.

However - some will likely use a vehicle berth, instead... such as an ATV berth... because of operational considerations.

I think it's a case where defining it is counterproductive.

Re: Jump Travel

At what range would the smaller ship be sucked into the hyperspace bubble and go along for the ride? The range where it's furthest edge is 1.5m from hull... T5 is explicit that the smaller object within field gets badly damaged. Hence, per T5, drop tanks aren't recoverable when used in the mode of ...

The way the numbers were derived: For each of the listed tonnages: Design a basic box with standard crewing, standard bridge, 1 turret Find the cost to operate the ship. Monthly payment on full mortgage assumed. Maintenace, LS, and Crew Salaries per 2 weeks - the standard schedule. Does NOT include ...

I've found black on grey very hard to read, especially black on a grayscale pattern. I find the color version almost unusable.

Re: Missile Thrust

Torps should be minimum 6G so you can't outrun them. Who said you can't outrun a 6G torpedo¿ Under the old rules the fastest a ship 100 tons or over could go was 6G. Now if that's being change, the speed of the torp needs to be, at a minimum, the max speed of ship. Should be faster in my opinion, j...

Re: Airlocks

I believe the intent was that the cargo airlocks should total about 10% of the size of the cargo hold... which has no firm basis in prior Traveller canon. Certain deckplans show 5-8% of the cargo volume as cargo locks. Others have no locks at all. Then again, many of the deckplans are BADLY broken i...

Re: Travel Times

You're partially right - there are regimes in system where it isn't cheaper to go STL. Not all Traveller star systems have multiple inner system worlds. (Traveller Canon uses a different system generation model than does MGT1E Scouts.) In the OTU, there are some systems where STL is cheaper only onc...

Is that a sliding ship scale? A 2,000 ton heavy freighter can safely jump with a free trader within 100D, but not vice versa?
Yes.

Re: Passengers and Ticket types

Pg149 – Passengers: An accompanying table here listing passage prices should be listed for referencability. This is a personal view, but only liners with dedicated sub-facilities and food should be able to sell high passage tickets. Nobody should expect to sell high passage on a free trader or subs...

Re: Review of all craft deckplans in Beta

One thing that is making it hard to do the review is there are no stats to go against it. So the Fat Trader with 19 rooms on board... is that the new normal? It's not the old version, and unless they've made wholesale changes to engineering and fuel consumption, the design is just plain wrong. Ther...

Re: Trade profits are too low

No, I'm talking about the trade tables. I didn't look closely at cargo rates because that should be a low risk, low reward alternative to trade. In that case, yeah, you're right. The Right column should probably be the simple inverse of the left. I recall pointing something about that out during Al...

Re: High jump Shipping and Ticket costs

Yes, J6 is 10x the cost of J5. A 300 Td J5 costs MCr146.45 and 807414/month, with 42 Td of payload A 300 Td J6 costs MCr182.45 and 991414/month with 7 Td of payload. 1/7 the tonnage available, and almost 20% more cost... so 1.2 * 7 is 8.4... It gets worse at some points, due to bridge tonnage requir...

Re: Trade profits are too low

If you're talking shipping rates, The prices for shipping have been worked out to have roughly the same profit margins as CT Bk 2, over expenses for basic "budget box" ships. Ship costs are somewhat different from prior, especially due to the fuel rate changes.

the codes need to match those in t5, because that's what Marc sets as official.

Travellermap uses T5 codes, too. (Direct from Marc's spreadsheets, no less.)
