Y'know, wearing up to three swords is no big deal... one either hip, one on baldric for over the shoulder. I've done that. (Rapier, Rapier, and greatsword. Was carrying a staff, too.) Also, worn weapons within reason (in my case, rapier and dagger) provide little encumbrance them self... just proble...

A counter solution, simple and elegant: On a crit, add the to-hit die roll to the maxed damage! Also, don't forget, a number of weapons impale on a crit. This makes crits from skilled opponents potentially much worse (An average town guardsman will have 50%, so it adds 1-5 points to a max damage of ...

Typo an h instead of a d on the b line. Regenerating data, correcting code via edit. Thanks! This should be better. on the listvar = [[10,20],[30,50]] Each pair is [a,b] and the larger brackets force it to be a single list. More I work with python, better I like it for brute force stats work. One ot...

*Sigh*, and I've read that Trollkin aren't that much of a threat anymore. Only if the GM has trollkin being no more than automatons. Int 7-15 is the range (13+ only for the experienced). Even int 7 (non-fixed), while thickwitted, is capable of of using tactics. Pull him down. Sick him with nu...

Simple solution to the "Can't hit the broad side of a barn" blaster fights...

Declare that a dodge is FREE against blasters, not a reaction, but if a reaction is spent, it is at double skill. Unless the poor target is unaware of the firer or is immobilized for some reason.

1) Simplified Character Generation 2) No more checkboxes to erase! 3) OGL, so I can write up my campaign world on my website without having to worry so much about "cease and decist" orders. 4) Available as a PDF... so I can print my use copy at half-size, and page protector it all. Spacequest? Hmmm.... I hope so - I have several things in mind that could benefit from a simpler rules engine than d20 Modern / d20 Future. Chobbly maybe you guys should hook up with quicklink, I would LOVE to do traveller and third imperium using the MQR mechanic... 8) Only if Hunter resurfaces......

Bard Games Arcanum (1984,1985) had a similar concept called "Andaman." The greeks had Fauns and Satyrs, Minetaurs, and several other man-beast hybrids. The egyptians had animal headed hominids for their deities. Some of the norse sagas reference men with beast's heads as monsters. We've now got some...

My initial reaction to the opposed role rules was "Where do crits fit?" mRQ desperately needs a "Design notes" document on the downloads to explain some of the decisions. I will probably use the following in play: Use criticals in opposed resolution. SImply because my gamers expect a crits system th...

I think that that "In Print Arthurian Game by other publishers" by the same original author as RQ/Glorantha could quite easily be adapted to RQ mechanics... essentially, the biggest difference is the D20 vs d100 for skill rolls. The "Was in print as recently as last year by another d20 publisher" da...

Ducks: Take Donald Duck, Daffy duck or Howard the Duck. Now give them a grim mediaeval outlook on life. A...

While I have RQ3 (AH Deluxe Box), I have never been able to coerce my player base into consideration of it... It has been nearly 15 years since I've been able to arm-twist to even get someone to consider generating an RQ3 character. Too many formulae, too many tables... and it says "Avalon Hill Game...

Clear and readable text. No color behind the text, especially on PDF. Examples that match the rules. A good and accurate index. I prefer the index to be the very last thing before the flyleaves... faster to find it. Good rules inside, preferably with no obvious contradictions. Written clearly in rel...
