Re: Help creating a monster

Finally, consider making the ooze resistant to edged and pointed weapons. Although bludgeoning weapons inflict full damage, weapons that can perform the Bleed or Impale combat manoeuvres only inflict half normal damage. I'd actually go the other way... blunt weapons inflict less damage as the impac...

Re: Help creating a monster

I'd like to see a selection of traditional dungeon hazards that don't necessarily involve combat, but which can be dropped into an adventure to make life challenging for the PCs. One of the issues with running dungeon adventures with Legend / RQ 6 is that the combat system is so deadly - half of th...

Re: Help creating a monster

Another idea I want to develop is the stench aspect from the rotting corpses, mixing with the creature's acidic digestive juices. Debilitating effects from nausea are always frustrating to players. Give it a Foul Stench trait that requires the Adventurers make a Resilience roll or become incapacita...

Re: Help creating a monster

You could give it a token SIZ, depending on its area, say 1D6 per square metre. Give it a CON and it has Hit Points, but all Hit Points in a single location. It could have POW, but no STR, DEX, INT or CHA. Its Sticky Skin might be a Trait. In the olden days, I'd have given it a Glue effect, with STR...

Re: Adding tick-base initiative

Ah, thanks, so it is a bit like RQ2/3 SR, but a bit different. It would probably work OK with Legend, but there might be a mismatch with the number of Combat Actions an Adventurer has. You would need to work out what the initial tick for each weapon is, then work out how many ticks the Adventurer ha...

Re: Winter Eternal Setting Conversion

Can you recommend any of those conversions Simon? I'd like to go check them out. Mystical Throne Entertainment did some conversions of settings that were originally Savage Worlds, I think. Ultimate Mongol Empire Guide Ultimate Roman Legions Guide Ultimate Three Kingdoms Guide They are available on ...

Re: Winter Eternal Setting Conversion

It sounds interesting.

I have seen some good work with conversions from Savage Worlds to Legend, so I would think it would be a good idea to covert it.

Re: Tips on a Lankhmar Campaign

Make the campaign fast and loose. Don't get tied down by details, paint everything with a very broad brush. So, don't get into the intricacies of a place, or the politics, or anything, unless the players want to dig deeper. Have some obvious villains and some subtle ones. The obvious ones are less d...

Re: Spider God's Bride: where are the cultural backgrounds?

Don't take forum comments personally. You are doing a good job with these, so carry on doing what you are doing. It is difficult taking over when someone has made a mess, or done something that people don't like, especially as it isn't always clear that you weren't the original author. That's the pr...

Re: Rapid Fire Archery Combat Style

The Mamluks didn't put the two "spare" arrows in their mouths. They used a draw that enabled them to use spare fingers to hold the arrows in a sort-of vertical-ish position, that meant they could swing the second arrow into position after shooting the first (and the third thereafter). Quicker, but ...

Re: Rapid Fire Archery Combat Style

The "Three Arrow Trick" is described in The Birch Bark Chronicles, for Mythic Russia. Basically, it involves drawing three arrows, putting two in your mouth and firing the third, then taking the other two from mouth to bow and firing them. It is faster than drawing three arrows in turn from quiver t...

Re: Increasing the Distaff Share

Our gaming group has one woman and she seems to be happy playing in our RQ/Gloranthan campaign (yeah, yeah, not Legend, but essentially the same). She likes games that spark the imagination, that are fun and easy to play. Now, whether that is because she is a woman or not, I cannot say. However, I l...

Looks as though it could be cast on a shield - it is a solid surface and can be moved, both of which are explicitly referenced in the spell. As a GM, I'd rule that it could.

Excellent - I have always thought that Legend would suit SciFi gaming very well, even better that BRP and RQ6.

Re: Prosthetics In Legend

Anyone tried some variant of tech version of a prosthetic limb for example say steampunk one that can get a pass as it looks magical in nature? With the exception, maybe, of eyes, I wouldn't want to. I like the idea of a metal hand that moves, or a peg leg. I even like glowing gems instead of eyes....

Re: New Setting - Land of Ice and Stone

ERRATA! That was quick! :) The Special Encounter Table on page 128 (Great Hunt) has several entries that are identical to the Special Encounter Table on page 123 (The Cave Bear). Since the Great Hunt table mentions finding the Wise Woman, I believe that the table on page 128 is incorrect. Damn - I ...
