And another thing...

tonight it happened, a player rolled a critical in an opposed check, while their opponent rolled a success.

Much... discussion followed ;)

We've changed this too.

A critical beats a success, if both critical then highest roll wins.

Don't let anyone find the rune.

If they find the rune, don't let them integrate it.

If they do integrate it, make sure they don't die.

If they do die, tell them the reincarnation takes... some time

Roll up a new character in the meantime ;)

Combat actions - defend, delay, fighting retreat variant

For tonight's game I am going to change the above actions slightly. Defend will now convert an action to a reaction, and will still grant the +20%. Fighting Retreat allows the defender to convert an action to a reaction. The Delay action allows the character to select his next action as a reaction o...

No, differnt runes at the same time. In RQ2 the runes are clasified into elements, forms, conditions, and powers. I had the thought that if you combined them on integration you may end up with different abilities. There would be lots of different ways to combine them: element + form element + condit...

Are thes in the FLGS yet?

Will they be available as PDFs? (I usually buy both if I'm going to run the adventure).

I usually buy the paper copy and the PDF for this very reason.

Making player handouts is much easier from a PDF, and it's easier to refer to a PDF that's open on my second monitor ;)

RuneQuest is the first thing I've ever bought from Mongoose. I used the basic system last Saturday to run a sci-fi game one off on a "haunted" space station (the old Traveller Death Station adventure with cyber-zombies). Character generation was really quick (I added some Traveller skills at 10% per...

Rune synergy

Has anyone had any ideas about integrating more than one rune at a time and gaining different abilities?

A legendary ability, enchantment, or cult membership may be a pre-requisite.

No, I like the system very much.

It's just I really want to see what 2nd Age Glorantha looks like...

will I be able to change my vote to system and setting once the book's out? ;)

Are the adventure and the figures still going to be released next week?

[edit]Nope, the adventure has slipped to mid September too :(

Ahh well, there's always the figures and the free adventure in S&P.

So if I have a skill of 103
01-03 is a double critical,04-05 is a critical, 06-95 is a success, 96-99 is a failure, 00 is a fumble?

That's why I'm interpreting:
Whoever rolled the lowest in their skill test wins the opposed test.
to mean whoever gets closest to their own success target percentage.

The way I'm doing it is that once the rune is incorporated the original form of the rune is now inert, although it must be held to cast a spell or use its granted ability. The runic inscription can then be copied onto a different object to act as the focus, a wand or bracelet as in the RQ2 rules, a ...

The way I see it is the dodge is a last second thing done as a reaction to a successful attack. If you want an easier time staying out of harm's way use a "use other skill" action and an athletics check to stay away from your enemy. But once you've committed yourself to hitting him, you're at risk o...

That patch is broken too ;)

It gives as an example a 230% skill criticalling on a 64. A skill of 230 can only critical on a 23 or less
