Our gang of knaves once had a tavern as their base of operations. I think in the end one of my fellow players' character ended up buying it, but for a long time it became our den because we had made a very good relation with the taverner. We took off his back a gang of roughs who were preying on him...

I have read that the 4E of D&D has a forerunner in Star Wars SAGA edition. For those of you who know both games, how do they compare? Gneech.com hosts Sword & Sorcery Saga, a conversion of the SWSE rules to a S&S setting, also inspired in part by Mongoose's Conan and Bad Axe's Grim Tales. I haven't ...

I think it is a ok class, i think it should be more focused as a social thief type able to fill the same roll as a thief maybe not as good but more social to make up for it. They do make lovely assassins though. Totally agree on that. One think that deters players from taking levels in it is that i...

Certain feats are restricted by skill ranks too - I searched high and lo for a feat or ability that would circumvent the level cap, but only found Religiously Driven, which only applies to the Knowledge: Mystery skills. There is another: True professional, which allows for the same with profession ...

Regarding sorcery for a temptress, this may depend on character concept, but I have never envisioned a temptress with a flashy sorcery style like prestidigitation. I think their magic would be more subtle. They being able to get close to potential targets because of their seductive arts, may be easy...

The Messantia supplement has a merchant prestige class and related feats.

The Shadizar supplement has the professional prestige class, and I think one of its specialties is kidnapper, which could work well for a slaver.

Just to throw another idea at this. Temptress/Scholars seem to do a great multiclass combo. Temptresses have options that grant magic attack bonuses and they gain spells as well. The variant rules in Hs Fallen for the temptress scholar have interesting options as well. So they could make great sorce...

Thanks Herve. I have read F&F, but this describes the religions in general. My question is more to know if there are cult characters or locations described in the HoT. I know there is Hadrathus in Skrolls of Skelos, but I am just looking for anything there might be in the supplements to expand on th...

Heretics of Tarantia - Cult of Asura

I am a player that has a cultist of Asura character. We haven't played HoT in our group yet, but I understand the cult plays an important part in Heretics. Is the cult described in any way in the book? I am looking for sources that flesh out the cult in order to suggest our GM reading those.

A note on Kithans: they most likely will have Oriental Magic, and Calm of the Adept gives you a +2 to wisdom and charisma, which mean slightly more power points and a +1 on magic attack bonuses. The spell was revised for the 2e, and now it lasts 24 hours, so you get the goodies all day, as long as y...

Vortigern makes a good point about the lethality of different killing styles: the two handed weapon, the sneak attack and alchemical bombs, being alchemy very expensive. In that light, I would make the more vulgar alchemical items (lower cost explosives) plain easy to manufacture, not even a feat r...

Okay, you support it. So, please point out where the sweet spot is. There doesn't need to be a sweet spot. It is just an artificial recourse to make alchemy more accessible, just like the use of fate points for the same purpose. Vortigern makes a good point about the lethality of different killing ...

When doing a team brainstorming session, it is counter productive to focus on how something doesn't work. Do you have any suggestions as to how alchemy can be based on fate chips instead of silver in a way that works? You suggest using Hypnotism on targets who have more levels than the caster as lo...

Do you have any specific objections to using Fate chips or is the idea just too radical? I'd really like to not have GMs burdened with BBEG taken out by one bad roll. So, allowing hypnotize to affect higher level characters is something I'd like to stay away from I'm actually working on an alternat...

I think this a very cool thread, at least for us sorcery loving campers. I am sure there will be many good ideas here. However, rather than proposing new spells which would make a great topic for another thread, I think this one should stick to general sorcery rules and mechanics, and scholar's clas...

Look for a thread on Asuran mysteries in this forum, the mysteries let you get increasing powers of perception based on sound (listen checks). I always tkought you could make a Zatoichi character with those. If you look at the invisibility rules on the 2e, you can see how the mystical powers of tran...
